Some more teaser shots...can't wait to get it all together. In that tough spot with all the little detail work...on the home stretch though.

Looks like the old cooler mount can be adapted

Not sure how much of the outer ends of the stays might need to be chopped off, but even if you only keep the cooler mounting tabs it might be worth it. I'm struggling with some web site issues today so I'm using some lame hosting and a iPad. Hence I will put up another post with a pic of the chopped old stay.

Here's the old stay after chopping off the top part and fitting around the new stay.

It's not really strong enough to attach a steering damper to, but it should hold the cooler and fuses just fine. Had to tweak the electrical connector panel just a hair to clear the headlight bucket.

Cooler fits nicely, just below the bottom edge of the fairing and just behind the little plastic gizmo between the intake vents.

Gonna smooth 'er out and paint 'er up and breath a sigh of relief that the last big head scratcher is solved.

I wanted to try a CBR929 front master cylinder so I bought a whole used 929 front brake setup off of ebay for really cheap, and the Goodridge lines happened to be included. I still have the 929 front calipers if anyone is looking for a pair for cheap. I also bought a used no name SS rear brake line from an F2 on the bay for cheap. The wiring harnesses will get light gray Techflex split loom over them to tie in with the look of the stainless lines.

When test fitting the RR upper and mid fairings last night it looked like I might get away with leaving the full length of the lower stay on. Leaving the full lower stay intact will make routing the wiring a lot easier, lots of tie points. And I think I can mount the Nautilus horn from it too, hanging inside the upper fairing just behind the right turn signal. Steering damper still has me scratching my head a bit. It's an electronic one and the solenoid poking out makes it a lot harder to squeeze into a tight space.

Okay, I know there are no followers to this thread anymore, I guess people just don't much care, but I worked very hard on the RR conversion today and feel very good about how it is turning out.

I cut the Hurricane fairing stay like Doc did, and I see a few problems. It forced me to put the front fairing together and see what was going on.

In the process I got a chance to put some of the parts together and this bike is going to be special. It takes a lot to impress me but holy cow!

I really don't care what anyone else thinks, I have impressed myself and that takes a lot. This is going to be a very special bike.

I'm still following. Was hoping we would get to see a fairing shot. Looks awesome. I like the little details like the refinish on the master cylinder reservoir. That is the kind of thing that takes lots of extra time, but it really makes the bike. It's cool to see your vision come together.

After watching ebay for months I finally scored a used Corbin RR seat this morning. I had bought a knockoff seat and was unhappy with the crappy fit and finish. I was feeling like I needed the seat to be just a bit thicker than stock to work with the footpeg position and the Corbin looks like it might do the trick. Plus I hear they are very comfy.

Oh yeah, I wanted to ask- did you find that the forks hit the upper fairing trim panels before full lock? I just discovered that mine do that yesterday. Dunno if I can move the panels out a bit or if I might need to trim them somehow.

Ah yes...upper fairing trim panels. I couldn't put them on after mounting the Hurricane fairing stay because the fuse block sticks up...that is why I put the front fairing on to see how everything fit...but I tested the fit originally and there wasn't any interference. You may have your fairing higher than mine. Those pics don't show the actual position because I just hung the parts to see what it will look like.

Or maybe I didn't put the fuse block in there to test yet. Duoh! Know what I will be checking first thing tomorrow....
