1987 Hurricane to 2003 CBR600RR Conversion
I'm still following as well. After all your one of the ones that made me decide to try this. Of course mine is no where near where yours is, but it's a work in progress. You did a beautiful job on the paint. Ask the extra time you have spent is well worth the results. Anxious to see it all complete as I'm sure you are

Sorry, didn't word that right. I was really blaming myself for taking so long...lost a lot of followers. The bike is turning out so nice I wish I had moved faster because would like more people to see it.
You have to hang in there on yours...but it is a sickness. Every little part gets scrutiny and then some things look old and the rest looks so good you search for a better part(s). I have put a lot into this build to make it as good as I can for a 27 year old bike.
Here's the end result of my day of head scratching and test fitting stuff. Not much obvious progress since my last shot, but you inspired me to haul the bike out of the garage so I can stand back and look at it, and I was able to get a little better shot.

Checked off kick stand, radiator, exhaust, oil cooler installation and I think I sorted out how and where the steering damper might fit.

Looking great...ya have to get them out in the light once in a while. It gives you a different perspective on things. Now we got to get these bad boys on the road.
I'm hoping to be able to fire mine up next weekend. Waiting for carb boots to show up.

Played around a bit with fitting the pipe. This is a Vance & Hines NOS pipe I got off of Ebay for $50 because it looked like it would fit. It was for a different 600cc bike I think a Kawi or Yamaha. It fits right where I hoped it would but I have to drill out the rivets and rotate the can. It also will be up a little tighter to the bottom of the tail once mounted.
Yeah I hit the jackpot on this. Guy had it advertised in ATV parts...I bought the pipe and he sent me a message to call him. He said he screwed up and that it wasn't an ATV pipe...I said yeah I know it's going on a CBR...he said he was relieved because its a sport bike pipe. Then he tells me he has another one if I wanted it...so I bought both. Will use the other one on the next bike. I love those kind of deals.
Very nice fitment, I agree! I was wondering what a high-mount style pipe would look like on the bike the other day since my stocker and the Yoshi both sit very low and off to the side.
Thanks Tahoe. I thought the high-mount was more in keeping with the "RR" theme since the real pipe is under the seat. I was lucky to find these new old stock pipes that fit.
