Did the oil and filter. I used Shell Helix Ultra, fully syth, 5w-40.
I noticed my rear tyre is worn. Question: Stock is 170/60. Can a 180/55 fit on ok? The only 170/60s seem to be quite expensive!

Your bike is a Mk 2 or 3? If so yes, should fit the 180 no dramas.

A few members don't like the profile the slightly wider tyre makes on the stock rim but many of us find it just dandy (perhaps we're not as quick! )

Cheers, SB

Default Headstock emblem badge.

So my son is pretty clever on the computer, so he and I decided to embark on making a replacement emblem, due to damage by the ignition keys giggling on the badge. Now I have tried to buy a nice new one, but to no avail, so we did this today, requires a bit more fettling etc, and a stronger adhesive on the printed film. I think there may be some result soon.

^^^^ Great stuff Bullroarer ^^^^

You'd probably get a few takers on here should you decide to make too many!

Cheers, SB

I just put a new battery in last night. It's new AGM battery the yellow one failed me on the way to work a couple of weeks ago ( I think it was about 6 years old) when I stopped at the store on the way to work. It was a bit strange in that it did not seem to give any indication that it was going to die. In fact when I came back with my volt meter after work it read 12.5 VDC but immediately went to 8 VDC when I tried to start the engine. I jumped it with my car and rode it home. I tested the voltage with the new battery while the bike was at idle it reads 14.5 VDC and at 7000 rpm it reads 15.5 volts. I did not find any melted wires to or from the voltage regulator. Are those readings in the normal range for my good old 88?

Dismantling the fairing, separating various plastic mouldings, having to melt the plastic retaining moulds ever so slightly wher the steel screws have corroded in the brass sleeves which hold the vatious fairing bits together.
Once thats done, cut off some stainless steel M5/M6 studding and glue them in place, with some amazing epoxy resin, from the US of course, where the brass captive retainers used to be.
Once glued, use dome head S/Steel nuts to rejoin the fairings together.

I cleaned my whole bike. Sanded repainted and stickered my gas tank. Then clear coated all my plastic. Also high tempted the exhaust.

Are the pictures in your album after the work? It looks good! Where did you find new stickers?

Those pictures are from after last year's work I made the decals myself. This year I found decals on bike-decals.com. I will put new pictures up soon though it's not much different only more shine to the old girl.
