Had an actual day off yesterday, so for relaxation I decided to work on the bike .

I installed the set of coils I picked up off eBay to see if it helped the cold strarting (they didn't), pulled the plugs (look good), moved the pickup for my digital thermometer so it won't pick up the engine heat and installed HVMP extra heavy bar ends to reduce the vibration at 3000 rpm (they did). They also allowed me to move my grip further out so now there is room for the Vista Cruise.

Now I wait for the rain to quit so I can ride.

Checked the oil, coolant and oiled the chain then went on a 200km ride over the Pureora Forest Park for a picnic. Nice ride in some fine weather for a change! The old 87 never missed a beat!

Default More new bits

Put new starter solenoid, new ignition switch and replaced some wiring on my 1991 cbr1000f project bought for £375 . Took coolant bottle off to clean out and put blue silicone hose from the thermostat to the coolant bottle. Also a new gasket for my yoshi to fit into collector box

Default More project work

Today cleaned out coolant bottle. Used a dishwasher tablet, boiling water and some old nuts and bolts. Filled about a third full and give a good shake and the nuts and bolts get all the crud off leave stand for a couple of hours and hey presto like new inside. Will refill with water for another rinse and then refill with new antifreeze. Remounted the Yoshi silencer had link pipe on wrong way round ready for start up again on Sunday

Still rebuilding top end. Redesigning CCT (v exciting prospect and top secret until completed), buying new Volvo tomorrow, generally excited about everything.
I can't wait to get her back on the road but at the same time patience is the greatest virtue when doing engine work. No rush. The train takes the strain.

Buying a new volvo, you will have to keep an eye out for yourself on the road, and remember not to wear your bowls hat while you drive!

Here's what I did to my Hurricane today: Rode it to work! Between all the rain or the cold cold weather, I havent been able to ride it in a couple of weeks. Felt good to get back on her!
