IT'S FINALLY STANDING ON IT'S OWN TWO WHEELS WITHOUT THE HELP OF 15 JACK STANDS! (it only took 2 years.......)

I was able to snag a 2012 1000rr front end off of ebay. Basically, I wanted the '12- front end because they were BPF, and they're black. And I also was able to get the 1000lb/inch rear spring on the shock. Funny story, I tried using my own spring compressors. In order to get the spring on the shock, I had to compress it about an inch and a half. So I'm not sure quite how much force was on it, but it was enough to turn my workshop into a bomb testing area! I took it down to Ron Ayers and was able to get it on.

And I also have the zx14 rim on there. It fits great. I know the colors don't match, no worries as they'll be painted.

Oh, and it sits LOW...

Here's some pics (sorry for the cramped spacing, I have 3 other bikes in my shop right now):

It looks like I may have had too much coffee - the pics are a little fuzzy.... Sorry about that

Thanks man. I think I'm going to drop the forks a half inch to get back some of that rake (the viffer arm/929 dog bones/etc lower the back substantially). So the bike will be overall lower, but the subframe I build is going to be much higher than OEM, so I should be riding around the OEM height of the bike.

So your going to try to stay within the oem geometry? I was wondering. I don't think the handling would be affected too much, especially with you keeping the same relative rake and what not. Of course, I lowered mine, only by an inch, and it still handles the same. Either way, I'm interested in getting a road report. As I'm sure you are. Keep it up and dw

Hmm, well the rake is going to be the same, but the bike itself is going to be sitting much lower. Since the subframe is going to be about an inch (maybe even 2 inches) higher than OEM, the overall ride height for the rider should be about OEM. But the bike itself is going to be lower. All of the weight will be as low as possible. No fuel is going to be above the air box. The subframe is going to be VERY light

I want to give a road report! I'm getting closer though. I ordered an ECU and I also bought an EXTREMELY dented 1000rr tank (on the cheap) so I could fit a fuel pump and try to test run the bike. I have all of the harness, so I'll be swapping connectors with a spare 954 harness to get everything hooked up.

I'm still trying to track down everything for the brakes. I want to get an RC8 master cylinder (18mm brembo) and get Nissin mono blocks from a 675 Daytona. (the sumitomo brakes won't work with the caliper spacing. The smallest dia. rotors I could run with them are 330mm). And then my father-in-law's KZ1000 is robbing my SS lines, so I'll be getting some new ones (super bike SS lines), or I may just build my own again, like I did with the rear line. Don't know yet....

More to come soon!
