Is there a write up on the zx14 rims. I have never seen these on a 954 or CBR. I would be much more interested in those and they seem to be more readily available and cheaper.

I just found a full set for $350 which is an awesome price. Now I just need to see what it will take to fit them up and I may have a go at it. I can sell my set for $350 at least without tires, such drive, sprocket, and brake disc. The zx14 rims I found have decent looking tires on them and even come with the cush drive, sprocket, and brake disc.

It's been done on a 1000rr front and rear.

But I forgot that you're using your 954 forks... I thought you were using 1000rr forks - and it'd be easy to just take the spacers out of the calipers... You can't do that so easily on the 954 - my bad (because the zx14 uses 310mm as opposed to 330s like the 954 uses). I'm using one on my bike - but I'm using 1000rr forks - Sorry I mentioned it.

Also, I just re-read the thread. It looks like he machined the zx rear rotor down to fit (All of the honda sport bikes (954, 1000rr, 600rr, etc) use the same rear rotor - so that'd be same. And he says he also machined something on the cush drive.

I'll ask him and see what he says if you want.

The RC rims would be easier - for sure.

I would not mind knowing more about the zx14 rims and what is needed to fit them in place. It would be a good upgrade if not now then later on.

Hmmm. I was waiting for him to get me the exact measurements - but it's been a few days and he hasn't gotten back to me. But I could tell from looking on a couple of websites that it's basically machining off 1/4 inch from the drive sprocket.

He did tell me that it wasn't too hard of a job at all. He used a professional machinist and it wasn't expensive at all. After all of this, it was dead center.

Sorry I don't have more info for you. I guess the only way to really exactly know what you'd need is to just go for it.

Its all good conrice. I am thinking that it will be an upgrade down the road. The main goal is to just get the bike running and me riding.

I am getting ready to go through my wire harness to check for bad connections and clean it up. I want to delete the grounding blocks (yellow boxes) because I know they can cause issues and would just rather delete them while I have everything apart. How do I go about deleting them is it just soldering them together or do I need to extend the line and earth them to the frame.

Another set-back, I need to get a second vehicle ASAP. My build now has to be put on hold so I can put out money on another car. I am looking for ways to cheapen the project up and have decided to plasti dip my frame, subframe, and swingarm. This will save me around $500 by not having them PC'd and painting the side covers with a high temp paint. I am not fully rebuilding the engine and just doing a top end refresh and replacing gaskets and seals along with a manual tensioner and evap delete. I will also be using the fairings that came with the bike and they are the cheapest chinese fairings you can get but they will have to do for now. I will have to look into doing all of the big stuff I wanted to do this winter or when I can save up some more money.

So just a little update before I start a new build thread. I have purchased a ton of parts, roughly $2,000 worth of parts, OEM and aftermarket. I am currently stripping the frame, sub frame, and swing arm (painted black) so that I can bed liner them. I am doing this for now instead of PC'ing but I am having several things PC'd for the bike. While I am waiting I am constantly doing something so that when parts start coming in they can go on.

I have to finish up the engine so it can be put home until the full rebuild this winter. I ordered new valve seals for the head and cleaned the valves and the ports out really well to remove the carbon. I am lapping in the valves now and then I have to drop the head off so it can be resurfaced and tanked then hopefully the new head gasket will be here and it can go on the bike. Other than some new gaskets and O-rings and a manual tensioner which is on it's way that will hopefully take care of the engine (fingers crossed, knock on wood.)

So over the next couple weeks the parts will slowly be coming in and once I get far enough in I will start a build thread and hopefully be done before August. This is just enough of a build so I can ride some this summer and then I will tear it all back down when it starts getting cold and finish the PC'ing and rebuild the engine. I have some winter mods that I want to do also like new fairings, white LED's in the gauges, custom exhaust, wave rotors, and replace more bolts with shinny new ones.

Painted the lower bracket today (the part that attaches 2 the motor and holds the swing arm on) yeah whatever you actually call that. Painting the frame tomorrow and possibly the swing arm (it's already PC'd black, but has a few scratches.) I am painting them with rust-o-leum bed liner and so far I am very happy with the results.
