Looking for some straight RC51 SP2 wheels. Decided to go with the sp2 wheels over the sp1's for the weight savings. The total extra weight of the sp2 5 spokes over the 954 three spokes is .5lb and that is in the front. That weight will be made up with the new wave rotors that are slightly lighter than the stock rotors. So there should be no real big difference.
I am getting ready to sell my 954 wheels that are in good condition if anyone is interested. I have decided to keep my 954 forks and get some racetech springs for my weight and maybe get a new racetech spring for the rear as well. The build should start within the next month so the bike can be ready for April.

Cant wait to see your bike start to come together. SP2 rims are going to be kick ***. You wouldn't have noticed any weight change that small for town riding anyways. That's the kind of weight you notice with a stop watch. What you will notice is how damn good looking they look!!! (and I'll be just a tad green with envy)
Here's a pic with them from the "post your 954 pic" page - they look infinitely better than those 3 spoke.

My original reason for wanting them was due to that bike. A long story short coming up. I owned a 09 Ninja 250R SE for commuting and was doing little mods here and there. While on another forum I was browsing through a thread and there was a member who had bought his daughter a Ninja 250R and was doing mods to it for her. I had noticed that member was posting up pictures of his other bikes and he had a nice 954RR that he had posted, so I commented on the bike and said it was my dream bike and I was going to sell my 03 600RR and 09 250R and get one someday and just have my dream bike.
Well the bike I saw was the bike in your picture and we got to talking about all of the mods he has done and he told me he had swapped to the SP2 wheels. So I did some research and noticed how much better the bike looked and said when I get my bike I am doing that mod. So here we are almost 2 years later and I am making that come true. Here is a link to the thread. Post 204 is me and 205 is the bike in the picture, the 250R is above my post.

I also have the thread where the owner discusses how this mod is done in full detail on another forum. It is funny how things work out and how everything comes together. But I did end up selling the Ninja and CBR and took some of the money and bought my 02 954RR project bike. I had to use the rest of the money I made off the bikes to complete other projects, but I have almost saved up all of the money needed to complete this project without having to wait for more money to come in. I have been cleaning and stripping this bike down completely and gathering a parts list for sometime now and we are almost there. Oh yeah by the way Will Ferrell is the best.

That's awesome, man! I'm with you - it seems like a small detail - but it makes the bike look like a million bucks compared to stock. If the bike in the avatar was yours on the ninja forum - it looks sharp.
It is funny how "small" the internet can be some times. I'm glad you have all the money for your bike up front - I keep adding to my parts list, who knows if I'll ever have enough money to finish it!
Sincerely though, I look forward to seeing your bike come together.

Yep that is my Ninja 250 after my in house paint job. I did replace the green stripes with some red reflective stripes after this picture. She was also a rescue and was crashed by the PO. I repaired the OEM fairings and painted them in my garage just some flat white. I jetted and synced the carbs, air box delete, k&n filter mod, pair delete, double bubble, black fairing bolts, solo seat, d.i.d. chain, brake pads, synthetic oil change, torqued every bolt to spec, and replaced the fork seals that were leaking. She was almost as in bad of shape as the 954 but I got her straightened out over the winter before April last year and she was under 5,000 miles.

I am going to start doing some very thorough cleaning of most of the parts tomorrow and throughout the rest of the weekend and start to refurbish a lot of the parts and hopefully make them like new again. This will be done on the starter, engine block, headers, and a lot of misc. parts and bolts. Plus this will allow me to do a final tally of new parts to add to my list. Once I have determined what new parts I need I will place my order. Right now I am about $1,100 in new OEM parts from Honda. So hopefully the list wont grow too much more. I will also be sending the upper case and pistons out shortly to U.S. Chrome. When I get the upper case and pistons back I should have all of the parts waiting and already have most of the bike reassembled. That is the plan at least so hopefully it all comes together.

Well problems have started to emerge and my build may have to be put on the back burner for a little longer. My township is allowing a bank repossessed home to be used as a drug and alcohol rehabilitation home for up to 4 at a time recovering addicts and alcoholics. Since they are not breaking any rules and have not caused any problems yet there is nothing they can do besides keep an eye on the situation. And guess where this home is, if you guessed right across the street from me and my family you guessed right. So we are doing some minor repairs that I have been putting off and selling our home which we have lived in for 8 years.
So this will put a delay on my build until we are settled in a new home in a better location and better school district away from our degrading township and community. We have noticed over the past few years the neighborhood getting worse but this is a new low. This would be right smack in the middle of a neighborhood which has a lot of children. This is not normal and should be done in a more secluded area or maybe a downtown type area. I am all for people getting clean but you do not do this in the middle of a neighborhood. It will take several months for the house to be livable but we want to be out well before then and as soon as possible. I will keep ya updated and will still be around but I am pretty sure my build will be on hold and I may not even get to ride this season.
