That depends on what brand you use. Allmost all fluids i seen for motorcycles are DOT 4. Generally 5.1 is better but for example the motul fluid i use is DOT 4 and it's dry boiling point is 312 degrees celsius. DOT 5.1:s is 270 celsius.
And Motul has allso one better fluid that is allso DOT 4. It's dry boiling point point is 325 celsius. I have used allso DOT 4 and 5.1 car fluids and only thing i noticed was that i have to change them more often but on the other hand they are much cheaper. And car fluids boil easier then fluids that are ment for motorcycle. But for normal driving they probably do their job.

So far I have sold my headlight (scratched), taillight (getting new integrated), radiator (leaking and damaged), mid pipe (custom making a underbelly), and my fairings are up for sale now. They are $200 on eBay for anyone interested.

I am debating on selling my rims since I want to do the RC51 SP1 OR SP2 swap. I have brand new Michelin Pilot Power tires on the rims so I would have to remove them first. Do you think the swap would be worth it for aesthetic reasons only? I am not a fan of the 3 spoke wheels and I think the 5 or 6 spoke rims will look much nicer. I can get a set for around $500 on eBay and maybe sell mine for around $250 or so.

DO IT!!!! They look tons better. Your 954 rims are easy as hell to sell because the 954, 929, and 1000rr can run them. People buy them up quick. I've sold about 5 954 rims - and they were usually gone in a week or two. Scratches or perfect condition - and I think vfrman (spelling) on here is trying to sell RC51 rims...

I believe he sold the sp1's. I wish I would have seen them because for $300 shipped they would be in my garage right now. Out of the sp1 and sp2 which do you think would look better. I like the sp1 six spoke over the sp2 5 spoke. Either way I go they will have a pc'd gloss black center with a polished lip. Let me know what you think, but I guess you cannot go wrong with either.

I just found this may be interesting to 954 owners who are looking for other options for a damper.

CBR F4i/F4 owners with 929/954 Front End -Damper Bracket kit Ho - $79.00 : HoHey Designs, Custom and Factory Parts for stunt bikes

This allows you to put the damper down by the lower tree and out of the way cleaning up the upper triple tree. Has anyone seen this before and if so has anyone used it and does it work? You should be able to use any linear style damper.

So no one has seen or used this product. I am very interested in it since I did not want to hide my freshly pc'd upper triple with a scotts or gpr and really don't like the look of the linear either. This kind of gets everything out of the way and that is my style. I wonder if it performs the same as the others. I guess I will just have to buy it and see if it works.

LSL makes damper that is inside the front fairing for the 929 and 954. But for the 954 they list it only for 2002 model for some reason. But these dampers are for street/show. They don't have the reservoir that the quality dampers (öhlins, wp etc.) have. I would allso like that the streering damper would be somewhere where it can't be seen but i got my Matris so cheap i hade to take the deal.

      • You won't be able to mount your fairing stay
      • I don't think the damper will fit inside the nose fairing

It looks like you remove the factory welded nuts on the stay and it is still able to mount up. I did not think about the damper inside the fairing. It looks like that damper only goes the length of the front forks. I will look into it some more, that looks like a 954 it is mounted for and they have it listed for the 929/954 but F4i using the 929/954 front end. I will call them tomorrow.

Still too noticeable for my taste.
