2002 CBR 954 RR Rebuild
ok so ill give a review of so far. do I like it? h3ll YES !!!!!!!!!! would I do it again? yeaaaaaa. would I recommend it? depends on the person. the bottom end loss is alittle more than I really wanted butt anything above 5500-6000 rpms is absolutely beastly. the more we tune it the bottom end does get better. im also going to try just +1 in the rear. im sure ill change things around a million times till I feel perfect but that's just the way it goes. im only 160 lbs so keeping the front end down in first and second truly is a challenge , but ill never extend it. today I was out and literally shifted into second on one wheel. talk about crazy....... The halos that we did were more of a spur of the moment thing. they really are cool but I need to redo them. I think the new design will look really good with the paint job though. Next im planning on getting a set of BST Carbon fiber rims. supossably some of the best out there. and cheaper than magnesium and aluminum. Before those though I have to get a sigma slipper clutch in it. we kept the stock clutch basket. it was a close call wether it was gonna be ok. its worn and making some pretty loud sounds while the bike is warming up. but if you hold in the clutch until about 120 degrees its goes away. after that theres. no problems. by the time I get a new one there wont be any damage done (about a month). next winter its just gonna get small touches to it compared to what ive done so far. everything is going to get blacked out that is silver. new mirrors shift kit etc. I wanna get the riding itch to go away for alittle while. I mean that's why we do this isn't it? if you guys wanna see any pics or have anyyyyy question let it fly. im sure I missed a million things haha
sweet, that's pretty good on motor only.... if you do get another 10, that's pretty damn good numbers! i'm glad you like it, waiting for the bike to get up to 120 with the high compression probably doesn't take long.
where are you located? and what's the weather like? i'm kind of worried about cooling... have you experienced any problems like that yet? have you ridden in slower traffic? that's where i think i could run into problems....

sorry I rambled
I have read many threads about cooling for our bikes and whether or not a fan switch does any good. I mostly drag race now and my bike would get hot on the return road. If the runs were too close together the fan would come on while staging which does not make the best power.
I decided to install a fan switch to find out for myself so I purchased a kit from xsboostperformance.com on ebay. Their kits are a little pricey but are very nice setup with mounting bracket for the triple tree and are easy to install. It works so much better than I ever expected. With the fan switch on I have yet to see temps above 185 even after doing a burnout and getting ready to stage. My fastest run this year I left the fan running instead of turning it off just before staging.

but im worried about the compression ratio. that should make it run substantially hotter (13.5:1). and i do unfortunately run into traffic. however, i'm moving - so all of those concerns may go away... less traffic and a bit further north so we'll see
what material is the radiator made out of? aluminum right? i might buy a junk'ed radiator, get the tabs off for the fan, weld/braze the brackets onto my radiator to have 2 fans... just an idea

can i get a link? i'm trying to build one as well, but the bolt that holds on our oil cooler seems to be about an inch too long for most oil cooler sandwich adapters....
because i was thinking i'd just make one to work similar to all of the gixxers (oil cooler hangs below radiator).
i also saw one on an erion motor that was for sale on ebay once. it had a sandwich adapter and ran lines up to the oil cooler that sat behind the radiator. pics aren't up anymore
