2002 CBR 954 RR Rebuild
Bare with me. at first its gonna look like crap but im gonna try and clean it up over a few days.
Im rebuilding a 954 from the engine out.
About the bike: I bought the bike from the very top of massachusettes and it wasnt exactly garage kept. Spiders basicly made a colony on it. I knew when i bought it it would need some work done to the engine. It smoked white and black smoke out of the exhaust and burned oil like it was its job. The transmission was blown once before and the last owner had it fixed by the dealership for $1900. I rode the bike back all the way to the philadelphia pa area. When winter came i decided it was time to rebuild her.
Some engine mods :
pc3 usb
13.5:1 76 mm wiseco pistons (1mm over)
Webcams Camshafts (chromed journals, adjustable cam sprocket)
Polished and ported head from erion
TI valves
HRC Springs
Barnett cabon fiber clutch kit
Brocks headers ( i think anyways ) devil highmount
(ill update as we go.)
heres a pic of it outside of my house a few days after I got it home.

as you can see the biek was running extremly rich. i dont have a picture of the spark plug but the irridium was actually gone. As for the head it deffinatly needed to be bored with as much the pistons were groving the walls. gotta love the new 4 training wheels she has

more
I guess when the dealership built the transmission the pin to hold it from spinning was jammed down against the case not in the proper position leaving it bent and the case slightly gouged. But its been grinded down and will fit now.

The Head
The head that came from erion at first didnt seem as nice as it does now. it came in and had white flakey crust in the exhaust ports and just seemed very dirty. But when we cleaned it up we foudna lot of really good things. First we though we couldnt use it because we measured .038 milled off. But we measured again later and found it to only be .010 milled off. I got a wiseco gaket with a thickness of .030 so it will work fine. The exhaust ports cleaned up nice and the bronze valve seat are beautiful. We were trying to figure out the springs at first but then realized the were HRC springs. On set in a few left. The cams that came with are regrinds from Crane cams. which are f/s if anyone wants them i can take more pics if anyone wants
