I've seen in other threads that you can buy replacement RR plugs but, a brief search only turned up one seller on ebay - If there are other outlets I may be not looking in the right place.

I'd be wary about anytime that the RR causes that sort of damage - you might be looking at a replacement.

Here's the link I found:

Knife , this is fairly common ploblem , when the r/r starts to fail , it will heat those wires and melt the connector , it happened to my 900 rr , i had to replace r/r and stator , the stator comes with new wireharness and the plug. dont know how far ya want to go with it , but theres my $.02...

my harness was hacked yo crap so i had to replace my plug and i just made my own. I labeled all of my wires and just used your run of the mill connectors to put on each individual wires. if you look into the harness the connectors are identical to the ones inside the clip. it works well. you need two different sizes blue and yellow and they dont make contact so all in all its an easy cheap fix

in response to all the rectifier posts; thanks for your help. i was able to find a replacement plug, for like $2 and i bought a brand new "performance" rectifier off ebay. and i made a finned aluminum heatsink for it. so hopefully that will help.

and as for pictures... i have one.. and a teaser

we got the swinger TIG'ed up very stoutly.

and Mike did some re-enforcing on the frame as well... beautiful tig work. He works in shipbuilding as a welder, so he is a real artist with a TIG torch.

I wanna know more about whatever that gigantor-sized turbo is going in - is that an old Charger?

Well, I def wouldn't have guessed opel. Must be nice to have a professional welder friend. I feel lucky to have access to a nice Miller 220v Mig, but my welding ability is not "show quality" by any means.

Are you going clip ons or riser bar? I'm trying to figure out the cheapest/easiest way to get a riser bar on a stock F2 triple.

It is kinda nice. he lives about an hours away, and we actually both made knives which is how i got in touch with him, but we both detoured into vehicle modification.. i have a little 110v mig so my steel welding is okay but like you said not show quality.

I made my own clip-ons so i am gonna go with those, the easiest way to put a riser bar on the tripple would prolly be to drill it. but if you could get it welded after that it would be super strong. you gonna run drag bars?
