Bought my wife a metrapolitan last week to ride the whole 4 blocks to work. I was riding it home after the purchase and my son tells my wife "I bet Orie or Devin drives by!" (Orie and Devin are buddies I race with). I stopped at an intersection when Orie and his wife came around the corner. about the time he was telling her to "look at the *** on the scooter (I'm about 200 lbs, looked kind of rediculous)" I stood up and waved at him. you should have seen the stupified look on his face staring back. His wife goes "I want one!" My wife and son in the car behind me was hysterical. Then a couple of blocks from home I was taunting a guy driving a vette, couldn't get him to race me though, needless to say it was quite the ride home. Topped her out at 38mph.

If someone waves you gotta wave back. Hell ill wave back at kids sitting backwards in their parents mini van looking out the back window at me.

I wave at anyone on less than 4 wheels, have to include the Spyder riders, and anyone that moves over for me when lane sharing. A little acknowledgment and courtesy goes far these days.

I definitely agree, I love waving at little kids because they think it's the coolest thing ever. Also been known to loft the tire a bit for little ones .... lol

my wife wants a scooter because she's 5ft nothing so finding a bike she can straddle with both feet on the ground is difficult for her. even the nighthawks at the MSF course were hard for her. also she is still a little weary of her skills and thinks a scooter would be more her speed to start.

ahaha my mom and dad were going to purchase one of those buddy scooters and ended up buying a new road king instead.. i dunno how that happens.

when i sit down here at the beach on my bike sometimes the dui moped crew comes up to me. i've had mopeders try to mess with me.. i laugh hysterically. sometimes i zoom away cause i'm creeped out and sometimes i hang loose in the back and go as slow as possible. there's this one guy around, "Hi, I'm Moped Mike." he even has a vanity plate that says so.. not sure how many teeth he has, but I know he's moped mike for sure!

i think it's kinda strange i've never rode a moped..

I never wave. Scooter riders in general are a total irritation. The majority of them have absolutely no regard for how dangerous their method of travel is. They treat is as casually as hopping on a bicycle or going for a walk. I live in a city with two major universities about four miles apart, so you see scooters everywhere. Hardly anyone wearing a helmet, hardly anyone using signals, and hardly anyone even acting remotely aware of the traffic all around that could squash them like they're nothing. Then on top of that, you see the real idiots doing stuff like riding on pedestrian trails because it's a short cut, or texting while riding with one leg crossed over the other.

Besides that whole laundry list, they don't realize that by being on two wheels they're part of a culture, and just like how they don't understand safety on two wheels, they don't understand that waving at others is a normal, courteous thing to do.
