when passing a scooter
I'll wave to anyone who waves first. I was out on my Trek this past weekend and, just for fun, I wanted to see what kind of reaction I'd get from an approaching sport bike rider on a back country road. I gave him the low wave and he returned the gesture. I got the impression that he did it instinctively before he realized that he was waving to someone riding a bicycle.
i am a f4i rider and i just got a honda metro a few weeks ago. i love it, but i dont wave at any scooter or harley guys because they never wave back, and i never get waved at riding my scooter.
I pull up on side a scooter this pass weekend, and i spoke. She looked at me as i was making fun and didnt wave back, so i down shift so my 2 brothers can scream even louder, burned off so she can tastes un burn fuel.
LOTS of scooters on the UW Madison Campus here (I work there). I will wave from time to time, but there are a lot of morons of scooters around here so I usually Ignore them. I had a frat boy pull up next to me at a light and Rev on me! I flipped the visor and laughed at him...silly frat boy
i want a scooter , so people will stop waving at me...

But in all seriousness, if someone waves... I usually just wave back.
Hell, people don't wave to me when I'm on my KLR. I just flick 'em off and move on....
Sometimes I yell "My other bike's a CBR, you mother.........!!!"

RoadiJeff, that is funny though.
I get people in cages that wave to me sometimes, too. I usually wave back. I guess it's just riders in their cages who feel like waving. I don't wave from my cage, but I guess I'm just not that kinda guy....(

funny thing is ,peeps are far too worried weather they get a wave back, most should'nt worry about a return gesture, wave and move on, no biggie. now that scooters are all the rave , they even show up at bike nites in droves,, i dont hate , each to his own, i throw a low peece sign at most two wheel travelers, i just wish they would stay off the interstate, 45 mph will get you killed on I95... i dont think most scooter riders have enough training before they are turned loose to the masses...
i wave at people all the time whether im riding through town or driving through town... but i do a paper route in the morning to its natural for me to yell good morning to everyone i see... heck even if im walking and see a bike i wave.... my theory is if someone takes time to wave to u... you better wave back...
Anything w 2 wheels. Cruiser guys typically wave back around here, if they don't wave first. Not too many scooter guys in my area. I'm an avid cyclist too, so pretty much everyone on a bike gets a wave, whether im on 2 wheels or 4. Hell - I just wave a lot.
I still have no idea WTH to do for one of these things - guy down the road has one, street legal, and I see him a lot. Doors open, and I think he can get about 45ish in it.
