when passing a scooter
I think it's funny because around here is small town/country so they are all over the place. The majority of the riders are under 21 or over 65 and they all have this very serious half scared look on their face, then you pass someone on a motorcycle and they're all calm and relaxed.
This brings up a great point. Scooters are barely better than bicycles IMO. Bikes destroy traffic on the road and are a liability to themselves and other drivers. (I am fine with biking off road just not on it). Scooters sometimes barely make the speed limit and people have to go around them..again making the road hazardous.

My usual system is ..
Other Sport bike riders get a sort of head nod..
kool and tough
Harley / chopper riders get the steam off my chit LOL
nadda!!
Small bike riders get a nod if they are geared up
nadda if they are squids!!
Scooter riders get a "nicely" raised finger from the right hand handle bar
Nice Women
on scooters get the "nicely" raised finger and then followed home
LOL
seriously though ...
anyone on two wheels that is nice to me , I will acknowledge them back
BTW- I NEVER take my hand completely off the bars to give a huge full arm/hand wave....

O yeah, in a couple towns over we have the retirement hells angles. They are a group of 74+ year old men who ride around on their metropolitans and hang out at the shell gas station, it's kinda sad really but to each their own.
hey your just up the road, they are in Edinburg if you know where that is, the hells angels part is just a joke but it is like a little scooter gang. I'm actually getting ready to move right outside of Winchester and know plenty of good roads to hit if your ever in the area.
I was riding my 2000 f4 yesterday with my buddy on a 09 ex500 ninja. We saw a couple of scooters, one of which was a girl
going in the opposite direction. So i honk and we wave to my surprise neither of them waved back,

so my buddy quickly makes a u turn so i follow cause he's a hot head and we catch them at a light. My buddy pulls on the left of them and me on the right all i do is rev my sweet soundin motor vance and hines exuast, my buddy burns out and wheelies when the light turns i just speed off behind him a few blocks up we u-turn again and flip them the bird
.........thats the last time ill ever pity wave to a scooter

I'll wave at anyone on two wheels, even bicycles, but only if the bicycle rider is looking at me.
This is a funny poll (hopefully, not thought of being obnoxious by some). Don't fret on the scooter guys too much. My brother-in-law has a scooter and he says he can top about 90 MPH, so don't be surprised if one day on the highway, you get passed. LOL.
