Default started button sticking

The starter button on my '01 929 has started to stick as of 10 minutes ago. I got on it to run to the store and no headlights. I took the cage, and when i got back and tried to start the bike and as soon as I turned the key it fired up. My question is can I spray some silicone lube in there to help it, or does it need to be replaced. Thanks

Undo the top of the switch block with the retaining screw(s). Turn it over to get better access, I tend to use electrical switch lube & cleaner on stuff like this, but if you have to, WD can be used in a pinch. It just sounds like the switch has got gummed up from crud, so I think it will be sweet & you will not have to replace it.

yeap. just get some electrical contact cleaner, blast it, then use a di-electric grease on the contact (white lith grease will work well too) and close it back up.

good as fixed.
