I just ordered the base contact for the ignition switch, IPG sensor, IPG rotor, and a bunch of other random parts. They should be here next week but I will be busy the next couple weeks. I was hoping to go on a birthday ride (hint hint) but that is not going to happen.

Happy Birthday, Brother! Sorry you can't go for a B-day ride, but hopefully the IPG sensor fixes it!

I sold my ECU a few months ago - damn. I would have hooked you up with it had I known we were going to have a member with these issues. I would have at least let you borrow it so you could diagnose yours with it. Sorry to hear the bike is still giving you fits.

But look at it this way - you've gone through everything on your bike - and you know that once you have it running - it's going to be solid as they come.

It's all good I probably could have had it running by now just being hesitant to shell out the cash on parts I think might fix it. I just wanted to be more certain that these parts are what i needed. If these don't fix it than I will be in the market for an ECM. Over the winter the bike will see a dramatic change with everything being re powder coated and the engine being overhauled. She will be better than new before next season, but I just want to ride some more this season.

My IPG sensor and base contact are on a short backorder from what my Honda dealer told me so I was wondering if in the meantime I should go ahead and rule out the ECM. I found a used working ECM on eBay for $140 shipped and could have it by the end of the week. If this is not the problem I don't see why I could not make my money back on the ECM by reselling it.

I ask because I am not getting any reading from the yellow wire on the gray connector side like I should be per the manual. Plus I can either cancel my order if the parts don't show up before then or return the parts if I don't open them if the ECM is the solution. I am trying to rule out the problem until I find the solution. I will make sure I let everyone know what the problem is or was when I do get the bike running.

I got my parts today so I will be putting them on tomorrow morning so I should know something by noonish. Wish me luck guys I am really hoping it is the IPG and I can start doing other mods instead of spending money getting the bike to run. I will keep you up to date on the outcome.

Before you change the parts check the ECU memory for any stored trouble codes.

1. Turn Key & Kill switch off
2. Short red service connector under the seat
3. Turn on the key and then flip kill switch to run
4. Solid MIL=no codes, if blinking count the long/short blinks for trouble code. Long blink=first digit and short=second digit.

19=ignition pulse generator
18= cam pulse generator

If you have either of these codes your bike will not start.

Okay guys so I replaced the base contact and the IPG. The bike still gets no extended type of spark but every so often the plug does shoot out a short burst off spark and then nothing again. So I am at a loss here on what to do. I think I need to reset the bike to properly check for codes and I don't know the procedure. I also would like to know where the codes are in the manual. Any help guys like always is appreciated.

Thanks for the info backdoc. What would cause a no spark and a occasional burst of spark. I was thinking it has something to do with either the IPG rotor or the CPG rotor and them being damaged and only allowing spark in certain areas I was thinking about getting a new plug and testing it out for spark because maybe I fouled out these plugs. But it seems that we are getting closer to this bike running and anything you have to offer on this would be greatly appreciated. Together we can get this bike running and I can be a contributing member who not just owns a 954 but rides a 954
