It was my local shop. Said they have to pull the cams to do it.

He also said on some bikes the valves tend to tighten, and you can hear the clicking. He said on this particular valve assembly, the valves tend to lose compression, and there is nothing really catastrophic that could happen, just a loss of compression.

I cant stand the thought of not having full compression and lacking power....but I just got a call for a $420 powder coat bill and was thinking it would cost around $100.

The only receipt i have for anythign valve related says "Port and Polish and Valve work" but that was from october 2000, so it was brand new. Im not sure if they have been adjusted ever. The bike has 25,000 miles, and Honda calls for adjustments every 16k

i would say get it done when you have it in your budget, from what i know it wont ruin the bike if put off for a little bit but i wouldnt wait to long till it does mess something up. i don't know a ton about valves but i would get a second opinion and another price quote. come to reno I can get it done for 140 bucks, i know how to sway my mechanics price, its called free decals lol

*Have to block sand this and polish it again as the powder coat was pulled onto the polished surface by the tape shrinking in the curing heat

Back from powder coat

hi,

stuffs come up looking really good !

Have you / Are you changing caliper seals - can get a build up of crap behind the seals which restricts piston movement - work alot nicer with new seals !

Keep up the good work !

The powder coat guy does calipers all the time. He completely disassembled them and im very confident he cleaned them, lubed them, and would have notified me if there were any problems. The guy is very good.

Thanks for your input. All of the little hits and help are much appreciated as I honestly have never done almost all of this. Im learning as I go.
