I know it looks hazy, thats just light bulbs on the ceiling and the glow from them on the ceiling itself, the headlight is crystal clear now

Default Headlight noise

There is a noise in the headlight box thing. When i hit bumps it sounds awful. Like tools in a tool box bouncing around. I have thoroughly inspected it, and can find nothing out of place. I hate the noise it makes, makes my bike feel junky and broken

You can see here where the polish ended and it was just the sanded surface, I was almost done by this point

HI cas,

sorry I'm England we get up late !!!!

mate, that wheel looks awesome ( and I dont use that word often) fantastic !!!!

AS far as the headlight ( im struggling) Have u tried taking it off the bike and shaking it to see if its in the headlight or not ?

I've got an RRP which has totally diff headlights 2 yours so am stuck - could it be a reflector internally which is loose, can you takle the headlight apart or is it a sealed unit ?

I'm beginning to hate your rebuild as much as your high def photography ( only joking its all looking sweet)

Headlamp can only be something loose - I will check out parts fiche tommorro to see if get any ideas

laters

EDIT - Have you driven the bike without the headlight fitted to make sure the noise is from the headlight ? maybe worth a try

When it originally started happening, I was learning to wheelie the bike, so it came down hard on the front end a lot. Now that I had the headlight out working on the cleaning up of the lens, I noticed the same old pesky noise when I was wobbling the headlight enclosure around. Its coming from inside. The unit looks like it comes apart, but its with little tabs and the plastic is so old and brittle I fear ill crack it trying to get it apart.

Just had a quick look @ the fiche ( had to go by 1999 cbr900rrx (canadian model as no US spec listed )

I can't see anything you could take apart on the headlight !

I'm tempted 2 say run bike and if noise if deffo from headlight, loose it and get another one.... not !00% happy posting that answer but hard 2 know wot more 2 say.

HI cas

posts overlapped !

As i suspected it may be a reflector come loose inside !

Suely RRx headlights aren;t rare in the states r they - get another 1 you know you ain;t gonna b happy with a bag of tool knocking around on the front of this mint bike !

Or b careful taking yors apart !

The us bikes have sealed headlight that I know of. You can take it apart though take it off take the bulbs out and stik it in the oven for just a few seconds and that will soften the glue enabling you to seperate the caseing and find your problem and then get your edges cleaned up and remove the old glue and then apply new glue and seal it back up.. that's the only thing I can think of doing with out replacing the whole headlight. I don't have experiance with this because I hav a Ducati projector headlight.
