Hi casvg5.

Couple of points: theres a really good product called plastex which is ideal for repairing fairings etc (can get off ebay).

Why have u got a split link in your chain ? If that comes apart on u ur in deep S**T, get a fixed soft link !

Coming along good .....

Like I said before, the cracks are taken care of by the body shop already.

I was honestly unaware of any other way to connect the chain, can you tell me more about this?

Thanks for the input though guys!

YOuve got a split link in your chain which is fine for BMX's and older bikes but for a modern sports bike its a bit of a risk

YOu need whats called a soft link which looks idencical to all your other links - HOw olds that chain ?

I'm probably gonna be in trouble for posting ebay links but something like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/DID-Gold-X-Rin...item2a08722f14

Check the pitch of your chain 520/525/530 etc, as u can see it looks just like a normal link

SPal ( sorry if I'm in trouble - only trying 2 help)

ahh, i see. So we are talking about the link with the...clip on it?

The chain is pretty new, its a "Gold" chain, im guessing that is the manufacturer...but i just have handwritten receipts from shops for it.

Got the left rear set cleaned up. Notice the mold parting line is ground smooth. Still have to final polish these parts so they are a bit rough, but dramatically cleaner than before.

Here is the right rear set, just for reference. The gear shift shown above had the same parting line as the rear break lever below.

keep it up dude.

just a reminder when you change chain or sprockets make sure you change all three, front and rear sprockets and chain, they all from together to make them unique to each other. if you dont change all three you risk breaking something.
