This bike is a work of art. I have a few question though if I may?

Here is a concept for the side cover and updated graphics i'm working on now.

As an FYI, white rims are a pain to clean. It took me two hours to clean the rear rim. Anyone have suggestions on the best method to keep your rims clean?

I was using the chain cleaner I got (it mentions its safe on clearcoat and rims). Once that only did so much, I started using a surface polisher to get some of the stains out. UGH, what a pain. I think I will wax the rear rim this weekend, maybe that will give it some better protection.

I like the first one personally. The vinyl is simpler, and the geometry of the cover breaks up how big it actually is. The vinyl on the tail will have to be changed since it's taken some damage from that fiasco a while ago. Was thinking of running the blue up the side of the tail a bit more, not as much as the second image though. I'll have to play around with it. I'm gonna start fabbing it this weekend. See if i can get a first template built.

fun.

I added a poll to the top of this thread. It relates to the designs above. Sorry, first poll, didn't realize what I was getting into. Dur.

anyway you could give me a list of what parts you had to have for the vfr sssa and the mods needed im really liking this mod and thinking of doing it on my F3.

Hey, starters:

1x VFR 750 SSSA (mine is the 93' model) there are different ones out there
1x new brake pads (get a couple, they are hard to come by for this brake type)
1x VFR rim, different years of the VFR employ different style rims, sizes and you may need to machine some material from the rim to fit the hub of the SSSA.

In my case, i kept the shock mount stock-ish. So i needed to weld a shock mount on top of the SSSA.

This altered the ride height, so i needed an adjustable dogbone to make the prolink work properly.

The chain clearance on the SSSA was lower than expected, it was rubbing on the swing arm, so i went with a 47t rear sprocket to lift up the chain enough. you'll need to calculate how that will impact the torque / RPM and get a new front sprocket to balance it out

For the F3, a 22mm spacer was needed so the SSSA would be snug in the F3 frame.

The pivot bolt that comes with the VFR is thicker than the stock bolt on the F3, and is shorter.

You can:

1. make a new sleeve that goes inside the SSSA and rests against the bushings so you can use the stock F3 pivot bolt.

2. bore out the frame of the F3 to fit the VFR pivot bolt (20.5mm diam.), take the stock bolt that holds the rear tire on the F3 (its the same diameter of the VFR swing arm bolt, but longer so it fits) and have it machined down and re-threaded to fit the frame. <- that's what i did

My welder installed the shock mount on the SSSA and machined down the pivot bolt for me at the same time.

After that, you can run some brake lines through the SSSA, or use the brake line it comes with (if it comes with it) and run it like how the OEM VFR had it, on top of the plastic chain guard thing.

I think that about sums it up.

Default Sssa

Well I just picked up a complete 97 vfr sssa wheel brake etc.. Looking to convert my 96 f3 Streetfighter... possibly putting a new subframe and under sear exhaust.
I haven't dug into a rebuild on a bike in 20 yrs.... since we stripped my 87 hurricane... So here I go...

Vicwakesurf, good luck with the sssa streetfighter build. you should check out some firehawk forums, those guys were crazy with the sssa streetfighter builds.

Initially that's where i got the idea of doing a car rim, but the F3's frame is not wide enough to support a full 6"+ car rim. Not without some significant work that is.

PM me if you have any questions! I'm happy to help!
