1987 Hurricane to 2003 CBR600RR Conversion
And your progress is inspiring us! Just to throw in a new data point, I tried the rattle can 2K matte clear from Eastwood on my swingarm and hugger. A full can covered both, three coats. It went on great, really is more matte finish than satin and seems pretty tough so far - though I haven't reinstalled those parts yet. Also shot a full can of VHT flat black high temp on the header, again with pleasant results. I am hung up for a bit getting the correct seals to rebuild my twin clicker after I ordered the wrong ones. Props to Thor Lawson of Evolution Suspension Products for great service in getting my screwup all straightened out.

Yeah that 2K clear is awesome. I repainted and cleared my tank with the high gloss stuff... tough as nails. Really. I accidentally set my tank bag down on my work bench and it picked up a bunch of metal filings. Unbeknownst to me, I threw it on the tank and rode all day. When I got home and pulled it off, I noticed some shavings leftover. Not a scratch on the finish, though!

Eastwood makes a satin clear as well. There also is Spray Max. For small jobs they both are very good. Wear a proper mask and protection when using these products tho.

I glad to hear you did your tank with 2 Pak. It is the best way to go...all that work and then it get's ruined from fuel...been there. You can do a very professional job with the 2 Pak and it will last.
Made some good headway today. I got the last bits in to finish the rebuild of my twin clicker, and I screwed up the courage to mark and drill holes for frame sliders to poke thru the midfairings. BTW a Forstner bit cuts thru an ABS fairing like buttah.
Between the 2K and the spray enamel and the soda blaster and the acetone and the lacquer thinner I feel like I live in my organic vapor mask, safety specs, earmuffs, long sleeves, worn out jeans, a beat up baseball cap and an assortment of gloves for the appropriate chemical - latex for acetone and lacquer thinner, nitrile for naptha and gasoline, leather for the blaster and nitrile throwaways for the greasy stuff.

Make sure you have a proper mask (carbon at least...air circulating is best) for 2 Pak. The organics and vapors are bad stuff. Filters plug too so change them often.
Thanks for the tip, will check the filter today. If I get this Fox shock back together today I'll post a pic. It cleaned up pretty decent. Did you get a chance to paint your engine cases yet?
