Yeah Seb,
I'm helping him get it back to a nice condition. First is chain and sprockets with some minor fairing repair that was bodgied up. Then a general clean and service. I'm on holidays next week so I will do all that for him while we wait for the chain and sprockets to arrive. He priced a chain and sprockets locally and they wanted $368. Ebay offers the same for $268. He is going to replace ageing blinker lenses etc and get it looking better. This time next week it should be looking good.

Installed the new main jets and adjusted then needles, gonna put the carbs back on in the morning and take her for a test run.

Also ordered a vacuum gauge setup so I can properly sync my carbs, here's the link if anyone else happens to be looking for a set New Vacuum Carburetor Synchronizer Carb Sync Gauge CB GS KZ 550 650 750 850 | eBay

Hopefully they'll be here monday so I'll update on how well they work, but the few things I've gotten from alpamoto so far has been doing good so I'm hoping for the best

I serviced my mates 89 today. I put the carbtune Pro on her and it never even needed adjustment. New oil, new coolant and a general check over and she was fine. He is waiting on chain and sprockets now. That's the next job.

Lowered my pegs an inch today with a pair of these:
Dave's Lowering Brackets
(My knees aren't quite as bendy as they were 20 years ago when I bought the CBR)
Just took 'er out for a spin. Damn, what a great mod!
The shifter and brake pedal are still easily usable, but will lower them tomorrow so the relationships are the same. I am VERY happy!!
Took about 10 minutes of filing and fitting on each side, since they're not CBR1000F specific, but a rat-tail file was the only tool needed other than a pair of pliers to pull the cotter pins. 65 bucks and half an hour in the hangar, well worth it.
Along with the Gen-Mar risers that I put on last month, the barge is much more comfy now for my over-50 bones.

I'm gonna get a set of those Gern. What did you actually have to file to get them to fit. My knees aren't what they used to be either. Thanks for the link.

The pegs wouldn't extend all the way to the level position, so I had to remove a little metal from between the extensions where the pin goes through that holds the peg to the new bracket.

Spent all day at the coast with the fam. I'll try and get a couple of shots tomorrow.
It was, MAYBE 10 minutes a side filing the slot a bit wider. Well worth the money and the time, at least as far as a quick 30 minute test ride could determine.

Finally got a chance to take a couple of pics this evening (Had to go to Alaska and back today):
The left-hand peg mounted on the bracket:

The tab that the pen is pointing at is just a tiny bit too big for the slot in the footpeg:
(I had to file out the slot maybe 1/32" in width and 1/16" in depth)

Here's a shot that shows pretty well how the peg is lowered about an inch, back about a quarter, and out about a half:

And finally here's a shot from the side showing the relationship to the as-yet-unlowered shifter:

One final note, the hole in the bracket that the stock mounting pin goes through is REALLY tight, so I polished the pins enough that I didn't have to pound too hard to get them in.
