Traded a 97 Husaberg 501 for my "new" 87 Hurricane...with about bazillion miles on it...That's what I did to my H-Cane today... Next pay-day, I'll take to local Honda shop and get a "valve adjustment"... That, hopefully will be under 500 bucks...right?

Well, as I continue to resurrect my beloved 1994 CBR1000F back to original condition... I cleaned the top triple clamp today to adhere the new "CBR Inline Four" badge I recently purchased from Honda.

One of my biggest pet peeves I have by my fellow motorcyclists is their lack of respect for the top triple clamp by committing the Cardinal Sin of using dangling, metal key chains on the their motorcycle's top triple clamp! It drives me crazy when I see such abuse. And I see this abuse far too often. A motorcycle is not a car! Your keys do not dangle freely in the air as they do in an automobile. If you do not bother to use a single rubber keychain with only a single ignition key attached you will destroy the pristine appearance of your top triple clamp by using multiple metal keys attached to a metal key chain bouncing and scratching the metal of the top triple clamp. Photos of before and after are shown below. Only use rubber key chains to prevent the damage you can see in the photo below.

Nice, mine's original after 20 years - no keys without a rubber boot on them..........
I hate to see abuse like that too.
Nice work !
I'll take to local Honda shop and get a "valve adjustment".
Check the how to section and do it yourself !
Ask if you have questions.............

HAHA!! You do NOT want to see mine then.. I keep my bike key on my regular keychain with all the others and it just hangs there beating the chit out of my triple clamp!

BTW, how much did that new badge cost you?

Not a hard job at all, man.. I've done valve adjustments on many ohc 4cyl motors, including the CBR.
Like shadow said, too, try it out!
You'll need a "special" tool to hold the adjuster while you tighten the lock nut, but all I do is take a 10mm deepwell and grind a little on both sides to hold it with vice grips. Then stick your allen key down the center of the socket to get to the adjuster. Works great!
You'll need a manual (in the how to section) and a torque wrench, too.

It cost me a whole $6.15 for the new "CBR Inline Four" badge! Not bad.
