This weekend I am gearing up to replace some gaskets. I found an oil leak on the left crankcase cover and so i am going to fix that this weekend then i am going to get my new front tire installed and then off to Bear lake for me.

The old girl is going to become a stripper. I took the front plastic off entirely. The headlamp was wasted (cracked) and I have yet to source a replacement (1990 CBR1000F). So it's off with the old, and time to street fighter the thing, or part it out!

Wish I could put a single sided swingarm and USD forks for a suspension overhaul. Anyone have a link to folks who have done it?

Any suggestions?

3 more vipers showed up and a set of SlikDesigns extendable mirrors too.
I'll have some work to do week after next !

edit: got bored and went out and test fitted the Slik Designs first on the 1993

fits like a charm and were awesome no modification required as expected

Then

tried the 1990 .....well as suspect the bolt holes are wider apart when you
bolt the front on , the rear is out by half a bolt short

Soooooooooooo as I said to John Vanderslik from SlikDesigns
knowing this before I bought 'em

edit: I have a dastardly plan ---------- simply dremel with a chainsaw
sandstone sharpener to widen out the ends of the mounts so they fit
all that's left then is some black touch up paint for the old base plates

Prelim' review tho ! I'd definitely recommend these ..... they look "Slik"
much neater less bulky very OEM looking and above all way wider or narrow if
you need to adjust back for small Guys with narrow shoulders ...no more
field of view problems ever a huge improvement over the stockers used
on the Gen 2 1000F bikes which as i said previously only give me a nice view
of my jacket !

Pic's tomorrow when finished

Edit Tomorrow cometh : ...got more bored again ....countdown ! ......... Plan to widen mounts worked out perfect

Still a little work left on the mount , have backing plates ( from stock mirrors ) drying
with black paint .........just to tidy things up summat !

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

I think I can make it now, the pain is gone
All of the bad feelings have disappeared
Here is the rainbow I’ve been prayin?for
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

Look all around, there’s nothin?but blue skies
Look straight ahead, nothin?but blue skies

I can see clearly now, the rain is gone,
I can see all obstacles in my way
Gone are the dark clouds that had me blind
It’s gonna be a bright (bright), bright (bright)
Sun-Shiny day.

LOL ....... working in bikes listening to tunes is great therapy

Hey:

Looks like great fun. I did the ride to Caernafon, Cardiff and Swansea a few times on My CBX, when I lived near Basingstoke, Hants. It was always a great ride no matter the weather.
But then I think I may have taken more M roads than A if I remember. I did the Trip a couple of times over the weekend using the M4 to the M/A48 to M5 to M40 to M3 route if I recall. It brings back the old Mems abit seeing your trip. I hope you had a great time

Hey Bugkiller, sounds like you missed shifting into 3rd on the second video, thats why it is a good idea to keep the pressure on the gear lever until after you let out the clutch, a trick my riding instructor taught me about 20 years ago and I haven't missed a gear since!

Good advice Jarvid.
I'm not sure i'd have missed Bugsy's missed gears for anything though. The sound was awesome from behind......he he......!
Pay no attention Rick. That missing gear is just a cosy characteristic.

Replaced the right hand fork seal last night as it was leaking. Put new ones in just over a year ago but put them upside down!!!!!!! Did the left one earlier in the year as it started leaking first. Just hope it fixed the leaking on the right side.

New chain and sprockets.

Every time I do this job I break pins for my chain tool. Today I broke two pins trying to break the chain. Clip type links are cheaper than replacing pins all the time.
