What have you done to your CBR 1000f today?
Does that prove once and for all that blue tack gives up at 160 MPH? I mmay have to recheck my engine mounts. The guy in the paper shop said I'd have nothing to worry about....
Anyway had to remove the rear fairing today as the mounting plastics had weaken causing the whole rear to wobble. Found one broken and the other cracked. Contact adhesive in place, fibreglass and metal re-enforcement tomorrow. Will also be fitting a 3 TIR High def LED pulse rear light which I will wire to the brake lights. Its programmable to flash different pulses so that will be fun.
Got to be fixed for Sunday as leading out 20 ish bikes on a hundred mile run.

I too have been doing a little tarting up.
The nuts on the rear sprocket have been bugging me for ages 'cos they were all nasty and made the sprocket look crappy. So added stainless steel nuts.

and inspired by Seb, I fitted some mesh grill to the side vents, not sure about this though, what do you guys think, is it a touch too tarty?

Nothing wrong with the mesh mate. I did mine in black when I got her. Just finishes it off imo. Looks great. The next thing I'd do if it were my bike would be slip the swing arm out and give it a re paint. Change the chain guide rubber at the same time and its all good to go again for a while.
These are mine. I bought the mesh in the black. I think you can get it in all sorts of colours. Good mod I reckon. I got a bit excited and also did the side vents as well...lol. There is a little bit of mucking around with them but well worth it.
Looks good Hawk , nothing worse than a Sprocket with
rusty nuts - trust me I know this to be true
it can
make for all kinds of unexpected "outcomes" !
The mesh looks good too man, kinda like a trip to soho
- nevermind - scratch that thought
....jk
This evening I delved into messing with my pilot jets
driving me nuts - still sputtering intermittently on idle
just a little bit too lean yet I reckon as idle levels right
off with just a hint of choke - another 1/2 turn in for a
little more rich should work and hit the sweet spot.
Got me a 90 degree motion pro hex driver carb adjuster
on the way - ta hell with pulling them off every time

Got a link to that motion pro tool. I replaced all the orings on my carbs and removed all the emissions equipment and now my bike only runs in full choke. Its a low idle and if I give it a throttle or turn off the choke any, it dies. I'm sure I have plenty of other vacuum issue I need to work out. Trying to find a vacuum diagram that doesn't have all of the emissions equipment on it. Damn CALI models Lol.
I think that looks fantastic Bordo - and I'm going to do the side cover vents as well.
Cheers, SB
Well, had to take the rear fairing off last week as it was "flopping around over bumps" according to Heather. Turns out the rear plastic mountings were cracking/cracked.
Did a repair and improvement with contact adhesive and reinforced with metal strips.
While it was off I re-sprayed the rentac rack so it looks almost new again. Then I added a new high def Whelan 3 LED lamp to the rear of the fairing, just under the main brake light. It is super bright and programmable to pulse different patterns. I have wired this into the brake light system so there will be no doubt when I am braking. I will post photos when Heather is hear to hold the brakes on.
All ready for a 200 mile ride out tomorrow with lots of other bikes.
