got my bike inspected today and tag renewed, had to fashion up some mirrors on it to pass inspection, got about a mile down the road from the shop, and pulled over and took them back off haha. They're off a '80 yamaha xs1100 cruiser so they don't exactly look right on my bike without chopping them up some which I'll probably do sometime in the near future

+1 That is CLEAN!! I love that it says Honda too, got a part number?

The CBR and I finally got around to taking the experienced rider course through ABATE. I would say it was an overall good experience (in that it was a good challenge) even though it topped out around 90 degrees F today. After 6 1/2 hrs in the sun and heat we were both pretty tired and ready for some open road! It was good to hone some braking and cornering skills though. Had a little trouble with the fig 8 box which I thought I would do fine on as I actually practice that from time to time. My clutch seemed to be a little "jumpy"... maybe I should look into that. It was adding to the ordeal of getting the old girl through the box which should have been easy.
Unfortunately I witnessed one guy eat some asphalt near the end of the class. I don't think he should have been in the "experienced" class as he only had two months on a bike. I could tell he was getting frustrated and fatigued as the day went on and he went down hard at the end. He had just blown the fig 8 box and the swerve/obstacle avoidance thingy and was trying the swerve again. You're supposed to enter at about 20mph and he gunned it in 2nd, locked the brakes during the swerve and high-sided something fierce. Scraped up his nice pretty-new Sportster 1200 Custom but worse bashed his nose and lip thanks to his DOT approved chili bowl helmet. Real bummer and brought down the rest of the class time. I talked to him for awhile after, he was pretty shaken up. At least he walked away though. Always a shame to see another rider go down.
Good time overall though, met some good folk and talked bikes for awhile which is always fun. Didn't get any compliments on the CBR but I was around a lot of cruiser folk who I don't think really get it... oh well, didn't buy her for that! I love her and that's all that matters, hopefully we can improve together as we get older.

Always good to get some training in and your bike looks great!

Cruisers seem to be a breed apart, hence the chilli bowl helmet, none of them will have learned anything from the incident you describe. I don't like to see a rider go down, but you've got to try to stack the odds in your side and riding gear is one of the few things we as riders can influence.

Re-jetted today. My TB slip-on has seen better days and getting louder so I went back to factory system a few weeks ago. I have been having a problem with stumbling again so I decided to pull her apart and take a look.

#1 plug was barley on, probably due to the time I was checking the plug color a few weeks back and didn't bother to put it back on??????? Interesting!!!! Why TBT you're such a dumb arss...LOL

I decided to take a look at the vacuum petcock and found that it wasn't opening with vacuum all the time. Pushed a drill bit in the outer housing where some-kind of pressed in dohicky is inserted. That thing seamed to be stuck at first but started working after ramming the drill bit butt in the fuel side.

I went with stock pilot jets and left the stepped up main jets in to handle the ethanol at speed. She is running great now.

Man-o-man I love this bike.

Took off the factory swingarm. Working on mounting up an 08 R1 swingarm and rear wheel. Looks like it will go on with not to much fab work

Replaced the thermostat with alternate one form this LINK.

The old one was making the bike run hot. The new one has a smaller opening but opens much much fuller letting more coolant flow.

Before the fan would kick on and run for a very long time. With the new thermostat, the fan kicks on and shuts off in a shorter time frame.

This is a 5 minute job from start to finish.

Did a 200 km loop today with a mate on his 93. It was that cold this morning my temp gauge didn't move at all....lol. Riding through thick fog keeps her nice and cool that's for sure.
