Age is a terrible thing my friend, it comes to us all.

Although I'm I'm pretty sure that I was more than 25, before I developed that particular symptom.

 

That's the problem with using honey. It will crystallize over time.

 

Wired up the new instrument cluster, turns out they shipped it with a bad sensor for the speedo so I went to walmart and bought a $10 speedo for a bicycle then wired up the sensor from it, now it works perfectly

 

The tyres need replacing after 8,000 miles so ordered new tyres today. Also on the hunt for an O bracket for my non-stock end can.

Need to get the carbs sorted as she is over-fuelling - result is 4" flames out of both cans when shutting the throttle off from a run

 

Are they suppose to have a fuel pump or is that something that was deleted after a certain year? Mine doesn't have a fuel pump so it sparked my curiosity

 

The Mark 1 - 1987 and 1988 had an electric fuel pump behind the left hand side panel. Mark 2's (1989 - 1992) and Mark 3's (1993 on) had gravity feed from the tank.

Many Mark 1 owners however have removed the fuel pump and rely on gravity feed alone with no problems.

Mine's a '96 but whoever's owned it in the past took loose the #1 vacuum line to the petcock, the #3 vacuum line, had a hopper blinker/taillight unit wired up in it that wasn't even wired correctly (The brakes would work but they didn't wire up the blinkers like idiots) so there's no telling what they could've taken off.

The vacuum lines were open there for causing a vacuum leak so it wouldn't idle right or anything, whoever it was probably thought they knew what they were doing but are far off from the truth haha

 

I rode from Half moon bay, ca. to Vegas back to Roseville, ca. last weekend. A new pair of sport touring Dunlops are on order. My Conti sport attack 2 rear tire did not survive the ride. Great tires for carving but, thats it. `90 1000f ran great. She did not like the Vegas heat though. Pretty darn good touring bike. Stable, comfortable, decent power, great gas mileage, did not eat much oil. With the little quirks (problems) she has I was not let down. Word to the wise: In Vegas the roads are slick. Not much lean and you are sliding. Lots of debri on the highways. people dont drive right. Everyone in Vegas is an out of towner. Locals are a dying breed. Good rides to all and keep `em down.

 

Glad to hear you had a good ride. And they don't have quirks - we prefer to call it........................character!
