Finally got the parts today for the 92. So on the weekend its new rear wheel bearings, rear brake pads put back in and new footpeg rubbers. Also going to paint the radiator where she is missing some paint and the forks need a little tlc as well. Also gonna remove the radiator grill clean it and paint it. Now that she's naked all these things can be seen so have to have them looking as good as possible.

Did the rear wheels bearings in the 92 today. Man were the old ones fu$ked. No wonder there was so much movement in that rear wheel. Just need to get a new seal for the right side as I stuffed it getting it out but thats all I need.

Default Danger in the Dark

Not wanting the old girl to feel neglected since I have been fussing with the new f3 in the garage, I went for a chilly night ride. I detected a slight roughness at around 40mph so I decided to "blow out the pipes". Problem was.... the headlights that were rapidly disappearing in my mirrors belonged to a local cop! (it was dark, how was I supposed to know he was a cop?) He was less than amused with my awesome display of acceleration and promply pulled me over at the next light. The conversation went something like this:
"What the Hell are you in such a hurry for?" (silly question imho)
"Er, you see, officer, there was this slight miss at constant legal speeds....so I decided......Ah, Hell, I'm guilty how 'bout you right the ticket and we skip the lecture".

I figured this was a better response than what I had in mind that went something like this: "Actually, officer, I just wanted to make it abundantly clear that mine is, in fact, bigger than yours."

well still in the making but the pipes themselves , well for the 1990 1000F
Silver Cali ,are back up the thread a few posts I think

Still tinkering with what to seal the link pipes at the collector box with
as the oem seals are too small for the slightly larger link pipes

Probably just use Yale Muffler Cement unless someone has a better idea

funny one there ekelman

Finally got around to making my link pipe.

Still trying to decide if I need to make a heat shield. Going to be treated inside and out.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Nice job - gotten pretty used to that fancy new welder eh ?

Going to use retention springs and loops to retain it in the can or what ?

I'm cutting a 1/4" thick plate to match to original and weld it to the pipe. The only problem is drilling out a 2" wide hole. Picked up a bi-metal hole saw but it barely scratches the surface.

Also, grabbing the just used welding wire straight off the gun with bare hands is not advisable.

yeah bit hot to handle ! hole saw - 6 years and 200 hole saws later - just a maybe

Ya need a plasma torch/cutter to go with that new buzz box

Drill the outer line and use jig saw with 'metal' blades - might take a half hour and a fair few blades
