I bought one of these recently and am keen to attack some bearings soon. None of mine need doing yet but a mate with a 93 needs his fronts done so I said I'd do them for him so I can test my puller out.

Put the battery on charge yesterday, went down this morning, said my prayers to the approaching Gods of Summer; and the old girl rattled into life on the third push of the starter.

Last time she ran was back in mid-March. Only on two cylinders for a few moments and then they all woke up.

Joy.

I think this sums it up :

Default vfr bars

Went to the breakers today and removed a pair of vfr800 bars of a 92 model, Front brake hose was just long enough.

mmmmm nice bars Tatt. Think I may have to make similar enquiries here although I don't find the riding position on mine to bad, but for the right price I'd certainly put a pair on. What other years of the VFR fit these things ?? I wont have any problems with the brake hose length as I have HEL braided lines and they are plenty long enough. Off to scour Fleabay now.......

When i was at the breakers there was 99 plate 800 there but the fork legs on that one where 43 mill' But where 41 mill on the 92 plate i took the bars off, He had a load of early vfr750's in but they where all 39 mill legs on them. Going back today as i spotted a early cbr1000f with a after market back shocker on it. The name on the shocker was Betor and apart from some loose paint on the spring it didnt look to bad a condition.

Well i went back to the breaker and bought the Betor rear shocker for £20 or $31, When i got it home i took off the spring cleaned the loose paint of it ready for painting and thought bugger it ill stick it on first see how it performs, Checked the damper rebound setting with the spring off and everything seemed ok' so i started twirling the spanners removed the old shocker and it was well and trully tired. Put the betor one on the bike starting at what looks like medium settings on the spring load and damper rebound but thanks to the bloody rain again i havnt tried it out. Sitting on the bike it feels much harder and damping feels better as well also it now sits a good bit higher even though both shocks where the same length off the bike. I will report back what its like after ive had a decent ride solo and with the soup dragon on the back ( checks over shoulder to make sure she's not there) sorry i didnt take a pic of the shock before i put it on the bike but here's one with it fitted. Yea i know i should of painted the spring before i fitted it, But if it work ok that will be a winter job while doing the linkages.

I know what you mean by having a tired shock Tatt. Mine is very tired but I have to keep it for a little while longer until I sell my house which looks like happening very soon. Then I'm looking at a Wilbur shock or something similar. I'm looking to spend around the $500 to $600 mark which will be fine for the old girl. I want a set of VFR bars though so I'll be looking for a pair of them first. Havent had any luck so far though.

I was looking at getting one of the hagon shocks but i will see how this one works for a while, Im going to do a bit of searching to see if i can find some C spanners that fit the shock for ajustment. Going for a ride on sunday not sure if im going over to Devils Bridge for a burger or to whitby for fish & chips. Will have er indoors on the back so we will see if the damper seals are still ok.
