I checked the resistance of all coils last night Woof, and yes they will - very well indeed.

Primary resistance of the CBR1000F OEM Honda coil for 2 plugs is 2.0 to 2.6 Ohms.

That means that pairs of stick coils must be in this range - or single stick coils 1.0 Ohms to 1.3 Ohms.

The CBR stick coils checked out at 1.1 Ohms each and the GSX-R stick coils at 1.2 Ohms.

That was with my el-cheapo volt meter.

Cheers, SB

Cool. I've already bought some '07 Honda coils, but this thread has legs and if someone can benefit from the cross platform knowledge, so much the better.

thanks for the info

Oh Botheration and double damn..............

I've finished the mod - see below, and all but finished the write up of the "How To" but have just had my ear pinched to get in the shower as we are going out for dinner. Loom clicked straight in, and bike started and ran like a Swiss watch

So, Grasshoppers, your patience will be rewarded soon.

^ Looks great, did you use the old debris rubbers from the original wires?

While you have the tank up, you should pull apart the breather filter seen in the second picture. Sprock and I both had our carbs apart a few weeks ago and found the filter material in the carbs.

Sensational work SB!

We'll all be looking forward to the "How to" and "YES" I'd appreciate a pdf copy.
Any noticeable variation after this upgrade SB?

I await your 'How Too' with 'baited breath' Sebastion

Will stick coils from any of the RR bikes fit, or just particular model years?

Hey Tim,

Yes, I know this mod is that good, that I'll never go back to the OEM coils set-up. so I cut the covers off the original plug clips. Fits like a glove.

And I will look into the breather filter. Hadn't thought of it, so thanks for the heads up.

Cheers, SB

Haven't had a chance to ride it yet Naga, I sail-race every weekend and last night was the crew's end of season get together for dinner/bench racing at the Skipper's house.

Noticed thus far:
1: Started easier (whiff of choke)
2: Idles smoother in a shorter time.

I'm just going to type up the last of the How To, then I'll post it in the How To daughter board with a link here. And anyone who would like one can PM me with an email address that I can attach a PDF to.

Cheers, SB

In this case Hawk, Resistance is NOT futile....................
It all comes down to the resistance of the stick coils. I measured GSX-R stick coils at 1.2 Ohms, Honda 929 RR coils at 1.1 Ohms. Pairs of stick coils must equate the original coil set up of 2.0 - 2.6 Ohms.

Grab a volt meter and measure. How to measure correctly is in the How To.

Cheers, SB
