Why do you have a sports bike ?
Because they are fast and what for the most part 100,000+ dollars cheaper then cars of similar performance.. agile, fun to ride, look sick, loud and I like the technology behind them. ie power to weight ratio, suspension etc
I'm pretty sure I'm one step away from taking off my license plate on my bike for good and only riding it on the track. Once you go Track you never really want to "brave" the cars again on the road. Not to mention the fact that you can go as fast as you want on a track and people will applaud you for it.
Its too fast, Too sexy, handles great, and is cheap to maintain, doesn't talk back. And if I treat her right she does me good. Never complains, or bellyaches especially if I look or touch another sport bike. She rear never sags, ( oh snap I'm getting into a whole other category.)
Several decades ago I owned a sport touring bike (Yamaha FJ1100). I sold it in the late 1980s and didn't own another motorcycle until last December.
I wasn't even considering buying anything until I read a post on a car forum about Honda's ridiculously low price closeout sale on their leftover 08 1000RR bikes. I figured I could buy one, have fun with it for a few years, and sell it at close to what I paid for it new. Then I would discuss with my wife about the Gold Wing that she wants us to get.
I've owned a lot of bikes in my 33 years on this planet...everything from 70's imports, to cruisers, to Harley's, and sportbikes. After a two year span of not having a bike, there was no doubt that I was getting another sportbike. Hell, my wife even rationalized it for me-"you're still young enough to ride it, enjoy it, and look good on it...get a cruiser when you're older..." GAWD I LOVE THAT WOMAN!!
And yeah, I speed...but I do that in any vehicle. Is it smart? no.
