Why do you have a sports bike ?
I see most threads about speeding of any sort except on the track gets put in jail and most people in this forum swears up and down they don't speed.
Why do you have a sportsbike ?
Why do you have a sports bike bigger then 250cc's ?
I'll rather not say why I do other then I look pretty cool in my gear !!!!!!

When I got my bike, I'd never really considered it as a "Sports" (although at the time they were racing them in the Super Sports category) To me it looked good, was comfortable & had a fairing (I was sick of being a wind sock).
I've had 250cc bikes before & I've also had 1000cc bikes. I've rung the neck out of the 250's & always wished for a few more berries, especially for overtaking. On the 1000cc's I realised if the power was there it's very tempting to use it (& not just for overtaking).
Mid capacity bikes give you the best of both worlds in my opinion.

Why do I own a gun if I have no intention of committing a crime?
Sub "sport bike" for "gun" and the answers remain exactly the same.
- It's a great tool
- It puts me at ease
- When I legally use its power, it's a great deal of fun
- It challenges my focus
- It forces me to improve my skill
- I might have a need for the power it has outside of a controlled practice environment

I like that one to. But most of my guns are hunting guns, one for my ccw and two just for show.

I'm a recent owner but the reason I chose to get a sport bike for my first motorcycle is a little bit of my mentality and a little bit of the man in me not wanting "just a cruiser". I've always though highest of the looks and performance of sport bikes so when I decided that a motorcycle was for me, that's the direction I went. I also wanted a bike solely for enjoyment on the weekends so a sport bike was the perfect tool for carving corners.
As for my displacement selection - I wanted something that I could come out of a tight corner, punch it, and feel it put me back. I didn't want a 1000cc superbike for my first bike and I also wanted something lighter and more nimble. For me that just suggested a 600. That's the choice I made and I couldn't be happier with it.
