What's the modern take on bike security?
Pretty much thrasher. So it's about making the casual thief decide the squid's gixxer with all the stickers is an easier target.
I don't rate disc locks very high because 2 guys can simply lift the bike into something. Or, since most people put it on the front rotor, 1 guy lift the front end and roll her off. And I'm pretty sure it was on webbikeworld that pointed out a vulnerability the disc locks with sirens share: too easy to cover the siren's speaker and muffle it.

Garage etiquette and trustworthy neighbors. Never ever leave your bike outside if you have a garage. Big mistake I made just two nights ago. I left my bike outside and some sketchy looking guys walked up to the bike examining it. Luckily my neighbor was walking her dog at night! I would have never known if she hadn't told me this morning. There is no way to prevent theft 100%. Disc locks, and alarms only slow thieves. As soon as you get home, close the garage. Never ever leave it open for hungry eyes. Also, check your rear view mirrors because thieves will follow you home and study your routine. I can't stress this enough if you guys ride those fancy new Ducati's, BMW's, Fireblades etc.
Hey Border, we've got the same bike: year, model, color. Noob question: Do our bikes have an integral steering lock that I'm not aware of or are you using another method? TIA
I just have a bike lock right now. I keep my bike in the front of my house not garaged so its pretty visible if someone wants to steal it but I installed a camera by my window that takes pics every 20 seconds... my bike hasnt gotten stolen yet after a few years so knock on wood
Datatool TRAKKING

Massive chain anchored to some immovable object.
Those things probably wont stop a determined thief, but the Datatool TRAKKING will aid in its recovery if it ever did get stolen
Also, when anchoring your bike, make sure you loop the chain through the swing-arm or you may come back to find just a wheel, if thats where you loop your chain.
