We are not just talking about gangsters here, they will own guns regardless .. but in permitting me a law abiding citizen to own a gun you are also permitting every low life and scum bag in every city to as well ..a lot of these low lifes will just simply be trigger happy and looking for a reason .. it would be a macho gun toting thing for them ... I think our whole culture *here* would change and not for the better .. I believe its the lesser of the two evils by having a ban here .. but I only say that for *here* ..we are so small compared with you guys ..

the right for any citizen in America to own a gun is the reason America will never be taken over by another country unless its through bombs or other things. if you landed an army on Americas shore you would have every single citizen shooting at your army from every window in the country

good luck

I see what your saying jules, I don't see eye to eye on a few levels but I appreciate and respect your position.

Funny how as a group, bike owners, we all have very similair interests other than bikes. A big +1 to 1911 owners, I hate hearing hows its "outdated" but still overwhelmingly prefered by many.

Sorry for spinning this into a gun control thread.

Anyone can push a gas pedal, and it doesnt take skill to run someone over with 4000 lbs of steel. It isnt hard to get a drivers licence, most felons can get one.
Wow, you really don't get it do you? I am really starting to hate the internet, it seems like there was a time only somewhat intellegent people even owned a computer or had the desire to be near one.

I was happy you engaged me and allowed and respected my opinions on them but they are soley based on my own experiences on my own small island ..now if I came to your county after watching Top Gear I think the first purchase would be a vest and a gun!! ..lol ;-)

when given a freedom of choice you must be responsible with it. if one wishes to legally obtain a gun and go out on a shooting rampage, he will face the consequences (or get shot in the back by the REAL responsible gun owner)

if he wants to ILLEGALLY obtain a weapon and go shoot people up... well thats just another charge for owning an unregistered weapon.

point is, people are going to do what they want to do, weapons are really not that hard to come by on the streets. i can see the UK havin problems because theres not really a market for weapons there so why would any gun runner try. but american was founded on war (war = guns) pretty much and after the revolutionary it was proven that mulisha men can do quite a bit of damage thus giving us our 2nd amendment. i wouldnt think of america to be a "gun culture" as some other countries like in the middle east where every single person has a gun strapped to them. everyone i know does have at least 1 gun in their home, but most dont carry with them.

I was mearly stating that guns are always concidered so dangerous and yet I concider cars to be equally if not more dangerous in the wrong hands. Yet we restrict guns far more than cars, and that with increased understanding, CCP permits can be quite safe, and extreamly effective.

Jules, I know by watching TV and even by our conversation here that it seems we have a really strong gun culture. Its not the way its presented on TV. I'm 42 years old and I travel quite a bit. I never see guns in public and have never had one pulled on me. There are area's that have a bad element living there just like there is in all countries. I dont go to those area's. You do have gun violence occasionally and with a national media, if it happens on one side of the country, you hear it instantly on the other....makes it seem worse. I have on occasion ran into people who made me leary enough by their actions that I wished I had some protection, just in case. The threat of a degenerate person is the same whether they have a gun or not.
I understand the fear you have but as for us..... I would hate to lose my right to protect myself or family should I see the need, which is pretty much never.... We have a very safe country, despite media reports.......
