Well I want this thing to be help for others as well. People caving and saying... "Well I'll keep trying even though I'm out" I don't want them to keep trying w/out this incentive that we've already put in place. I'd rather give everybody another chance and allow another shot at this. It'll help more than it will hurt. I couldn't care less about winning the money. I've been working at this for a while. I'm more than happy to, if everybody wants to restart this competition clean, restart it. I hadn't even gotten my money in yet. I don't live near my bank so I couldn't exactly get a paypal acct set up yet. I was gonna do it this weekend when I run home.. but.. seeing as this whole thing caved in already I don't feel like I've even earned the money. Especially since I haven't even gotten over smoking yet. If I was given money for this.. first I didn't even get any money in the pot yet.. and second.. I'm not over smoking yet so where's the extra incentive to quit. There's just all the incentive that was there in the beginning.. but w/out the competition where's the fun in quitting? I'm just gonna be doin it by myself and I feel like I'll just give in like I have in my past attempts. So whatever everybody decides on I'm cool with it. I'll get the money this weekend on a paypal account if you guys want to give it another shot. Even if it gets down to one person I don't think they should get the money until they've quit for a set amount of time.. cause 1-2 weeks isn't enough to have quit. I quit for about a month about 6 months ago and started it back up SO easily. It needs to be no nicotine for a WHILE to even work imo. Just my thoughts on the whole matter.. IF we are gonna restart though.. I want to be able to binge on nicotine for a day just to give myself a treat :P I don't care what y'all think. I just want it.

here's a thought for people actually throwing money in the pot

rather than "losing" when you mess up once

That makes it too easy, then when someone messes up they just say "oh well, guess there's nothing stopping me now" and they fall right back into it

How about when someone messes up, takes nicotine in some form, they have to throw more money into the pot and keep goin?

^ Sounds good actually. You can buy in when you are back out of the competition.

Dude I can totally do this, I'm too poor to buy my own and my friends'll just slap me if I tell them about this and try to get a cig from them. thisismyacct is one of my best friends by the way. I've been updated on this project since the beginning.

i was watching manswers last night. apparently the best way to kick an addiction is to see a therapist that literally kicks your *** whenever you relapse. It must be a woman that does the kicking/spanking, because it's more shameful that way. There's a country somewhere that practices this. Germany maybe? The relapse rate is very low.
Afterwards i would need a cigg.

Well, it's hard to tell what's really going on with who now but I hope at least one person comes out of this a non-smoker. It really is the best thing you can do for yourself...and people you care about.

^ I'm definitely going to push until I go all of the way.. but I'd love to be able to help others out while I'm at it. The money isn't a real motivator since quitting is going to really rearrange my budget anyhow. I remember just a couple of years ago explaining to a friend who was complaining that he couldn't afford a car (and smoked a carton a week at the time) that his habit was enough money to afford a cheap car payment. I see the financial value inending this habit as soon as possible also. Honestly it's enough to cover utilities for a month. Or my cell phone bill and cable bill. Really a lot of money involved here.

so yeah, i wanna get in on this, not really for the money (though if i found the cash to pitch in the chance on me winning would be cool, extra cash is always nice), but dave made some good points, its not exactly good for you and quitting is a good idea
