Smile Return to the fold.

Hi everyone. I posted the following and ythe moderators suggested I post something here:
I bought a new CBR1000F in 1990 to celebrate getting a new job. Nine months later it was spirited away in the night by persons unknown. :-(
The nearest to new I could get with the insurance payout was a 10 month old VFR750. (Another great bike.) This served me well for a number of years before I tried something different, a Ducati ST4 and then an ST4S that I still have. A friend is visiting later in the year to go to the Isle of Man TT races. He found a bike on eBay. He sent the money and asked me to buy and fettle it for him to use when he visits. The bike is a 1987 CBR1000F-H so by a bit of a roundabout route I have had a chance to reacquaint myself with a model that I didn’t get chance to know properly back in 1990.
Thank you to this forum for helping me to find a lot of useful information to help me to get this bike in good running order.

The moderators also suggested I publish some photographs. I'll get some pics on when I find my camera.
I wonder how many of this first "H" version of the CBR1000F were made and how many are still around.
This one has just over 50,000 miles on the clock and the engine seems to still run quite nicely without smoke or much in the way of rattles.

Welcome Ed. Can't wait to see some pics. I had an 88 and it was one of my favourite bikes of all time.

Good stuff Ed, welcome to the forum, hope you get to enjoy this one a bit longer. Bloody motorbike thieves should have their hands cut off!

Hey Ed, you probably have a similar tale to lots of people who've got into this forum over the years. You come in search of knowledge, find it, then perhaps loiter for the banter. It's all good anyway. Welcome!
Jarvid, I agree with your sentiments on bike thieves although I'd have their back wheels taken off. It'll stop them doing a whole lot more than just tea leafing!
Enjoy the CBR Ed (if your mate lets you ride it). She'll get a few looks at the IOM for sure.

Jacobs.... F'nar!
Nice one Sprocklet. Another addition to the rhyming slang vocabulary. The sentiment remains the same however it's put.

Default My 88

Hi just wanted to check out this forum. I have a 1988 cbr1000f. Currently has a 1994 engine, pulled 88 engine because of broken alt chain. I will post a picture when I get a chance.
