Well, tomorrow evening (friday night), I'm off with the Hardley crowd to another Hardley bike night..
I'm gonna spin that new XR1200 and see what it's got. I wanted to take it out last time, but they didn't bring it out and I took the VRod instead.
I've been told by one of the sales guys that they'll bring out the XR this time if I ask for it...
We'll see how it runs....

BTW, Gregg, hell of a nice bike you've got there. Really. How do you like it so far?
You're right about the Harley dealership people being nice... I've noticed that, too. Interesting.
I like the way they don't harass the chit out of you, either. I figured after taking a couple test rides and showing interest they'd be calling and emailing me. They haven't bugged me at all. I got one mailer about 2 weeks ago just saying they were having a get together and I could ride some more bikes if I wanted. That's it.
They're always really cool and not pushy. Not what I expected.

So far 400 trouble free miles Been working so much the only riding I've done has been commuting ... still better than nothing. Oh, took the wifey for a ride one night ... the old 4 bangers never seemed to put her in the same mood as the v twin did

And you're right about the stealership peeps ... maybe it's just a few and the rest are butt wipes like at the Japanese megacyclestores. All I know is they invite you to all sorts of get togethers and they bring lots of food. And they let you ride their bikes. Really nice people ... nothing like those 3 gorillas that wanted to beat the schiznit outta Steve

^^^ How did I know he'd say something like that...

the old 4 bangers never seemed to put her in the same mood as the v twin did
Interesting.... My wife doesn't like to ride too much at all. Can't very well buy a Harley to see if she'd like riding more.. lol
My buddy keeps telling me I can take his new Classic any time I want. He thinks my wife would like it more because of the big seat and sissy bar. I may take him up on the offer. Just for fun, of course...

As far as the stealer people... I've been to 3 or 4 Hardley dealers and everyone's been nice. Hope it doesn't get rained out tonight... Not lookin' good...

well one thing about 'em, they hold their value well..........so it'll be less pain
if you decide on a sport-bike or sport-tourer later.

Remember the broken down Hardley I stopped for the other day?? I caught up with the mechanic this morning and it turns out it was pilot error, not the Hardley itself. Yes his battery was rooted...from cranking the engine over with no fuel! Apparently all he had to do was put it on reserve. First thing I asked him was "plenty of fuel?". Poor sod..

Again, late to the party, but here in the Houston area, I think all the bikers think of themselves as bikers and Texans. That's enough of a splinter group for us. I ride a Yamaha Harley clone, the Road Star as well as my CBR. I haven't noticed any difference in how I'm treated, no matter what I'm riding. Everyone waves. (Of course it is that low, pointing cool guy wave and not the elementary school teacher wave). I also frequently see cruisers and sportbikes together. We are soooooooooooo progressive here in Texas . Well, at least the bikers are.

Nice looking pair of bikes there 'J', wouldn't mind one of them myself , might get my missus on the back more often

Mind you I'm not sure how long the Road star would look like that if I had it , lots of chrome to polish!
