I actually think those are cool looking, sprock.
I rode that VRod muscle, and it was cool. Pretty good grunt (although I couldn't seem to keep off the rev limiter...lol). Top speed is lacking.
I like that new XR1200, too. I'd like to take it for a spin just to see...
However, the prices are just insane, and the performance doesn't match it.
I realize that it's kind-of an image thing, but if I'm gonna spend that kind of dough on a bike, I'm gonna get a newer honda sportbike (and still only spend half the money.....although good deals are out there...).
If I want a touring bike, I'm gonna go with a wing over any of the glides.
All I keep hearing are horror stories from people about reliability issues with these things. Every bike night I go to, they end up spending at least 20mins talking about who's having issues with what. My boss just took his brand new road glide back to the shop for the 4th time. Something just isn't right with that...
My other buddy has 3 harleys now, and 3 times this summer he's had problems with one of them. He even said that he should have never sold his one Fatboy because it was the most dependable of all of them.
That's not good. These are all damn near new bikes.
I know all the Harley guys have been ripping on this one older guy (friend of theirs) because he sold his HD and bought a Star this year. This guy had always had HDs, and he tours all over the country. He said flat out that he was tired of having problems and was too dam old to be left stranded with his wife. He said Yamaha gave him a 5yr warranty, and Harley laughed when he asked them to match it.

Fair comments there Trout and very little I'd differ on with ya........they are kinda
cool looking like you said but man they are wicked pricey but hey ya know we all
like to switch it up a bit every now and then.
Little bit of the Bad *** Tat'/Street image to it I'd say

Om only kidding around Mark...
They are not my cup of tea ...but yer they do have the look of an evil giant waiting to stomp something ...
I recon that aside from the price and reliability issues , the stigma attached to them would stop me from ever buying one anyways ....

Ha ha ... still funny, blue..
Sprock, I can't argue with that. Those are definately cool looking bikes, and like i said...I like the XR12, too.
I can't afford either of them, though... lol..
I can't say how reliable either of them are, either.
All jokes aside, I was kind-of surprised to hear my buddies at work having problems with their's. I mean, we always all joke about parts falling off of Harleys and how they break down all the time, but I never really thought there was much truth to it.
And maybe there really isn't, and it's just a coincidence that a few of my buddies are having a lot of problems.
I've never heard the 2 other HD guys we ride with say too much about having problems with their bikes. One guy has over 100k miles on one of his. He's retired and rides a lot. He has had a few problems along the way, though, but that's to be expected. He also admitted that he had a Magna for like 5yrs. Said it was a great bike and only had one problem... something with the fuel... vent, maybe. I know it was something simple.

"Hey Keyfactor, I assume you mean other than a combine harvester with blown exhaust boxes, or a D8 dozer with blocked injectors..................
"
You forgot an old John Deere D (I did my time on a hay farm as a kid)
Seriously tho, a lot of this, apart from the part in fun is kinda really the other side of the same coin. Granted, although I don't think people often feel threatened by a bunch of sportbike riders ( I think they call them hooligans in other parts of the world) some probably do. we certainly don't have the reputation for violence, but making a moral judgment about someone because of the brand of vehicle they choose is ludicrous. Chevy, Ford, Yugo
some are better than others, (hurricanes are better than harleys to be sure) but come on... IN the end it's the person..not the vehicle. These guys that harass and annoy us would be jerks no matter what they were moving themselves around on.
There.. that ought to give some ammunition for youse guys
Now just give me a minute to put my soapbox away so i can make a run for it without tripping....
