I agree that its the rider, not the bike that is the problem. I don't really appreciate cruisers, other than I do like the look of some as craftsmanship, including the VRod - I think its pretty good looking.

I have a lot of friends and my brother that ride Harleys. I don't take them up on the offer to ride them but I don't think them bad people for riding them.

And, other than Hurricanes, there are some idiots riding Jap iron.

Why don't you just say it...
GIXXER!
There, I said it...

I agree that ****** are gonna ****** no matter what they ride, but maybe some people get too caught up in the idea that if you ride a HD, you're somehow a rebel and have to be an ***.
Notice I said "some" people. Obviously not all of them, as I ride with some cool HD guys that don't give a chit what I ride. They just called me up and asked me to ride with them up to the PA canyon next week. (I declined because I'm not really sure if it's a trick and they really intend on dumping me there.. lol..)

Seriously, though.. it's all in good fun (for the most part...)

Whilst cruising into work this morning, enjoying the cool sunny morning ride, I spotted a fellow motorcyclist standing next to his bike by the edge of the highway. I stopped to see if he was ok (always do) and...surprise, surprise...it was a Hardley! The bike had just died on him on the way to getting a service. He said to me "it must need it too". Anyway he rang the mechanic and was ok so I took off..on my Honda! Despite the black open face helmet and skull bandana, he was a nice enough bloke and thanked me for stopping. When I took off I gave it a bit of a squirt, just to rub it in a bit and couldn't help a bit of a smile to myself.

I think that the bad Karma I've invoked by being amused should be offset by good Karma for stopping in the first place, so I should have come out even. .

I wonder if he'll tell his mates....

Not a chance.

If it were another Hardley guy, sure he'd speak up.... but he's not gonna say chit about no charity from a Honda rider.
Now, he may fabricate the story and say that you pulled over, did a burnout, and your bike blew up...
He may even tell his boys that he kicked your **** for lookin' at him funny......but admitting that a Honda rider was a nice guy?? You're dreamin', dave....

He wasn't one of the badass variety, just was going for the look. Honestly it was all I could do not to blurt out "shoulda bought a honda, mate", but I managed to keep it together . I kept my helmet and sunnies on too, otherwise he'd have seen what a good time I was having. I think it was only his electrics anyway. Spluttered and died, plenty of fuel. Poor sod's ears would just about have bled when I pulled away, 'cos the V&H is pretty loud! .

Ahhhh....Happy days

To be honest Steve I didn't know, at the time of stopping, that it was a Highly Dangerous. That was just a bonus .I thought of you lot straight away..I'd have taken a photo if I'd thought of it! So many Japanese cruisers look like Hardleys from the back that I didn't realise 'til I walked around the side. Even if I had known though, I would have stopped...Building bridges is what I'm all about...yeah right .
