The way the OP did the install is awesome. If I had a newer bike I would do it that way.

(This may have already been covered, since I didn't read all 13 pages)
The setup I'm doing is very basic. I have a battery tender hooked up straight to my battery:

From there, I'll hook it up to a weather proof SAE to USB connector:


Ziptie it up and you're good to go.

VERY basic, but very easy and cheap.
