Default Wiring issue : constant cranking

Hey y’all, just picked up this project 95’ 600F3 for a steal.
now I may know why

First off, 15 years of motorcycle building in my blood. I’m not scared of anything on these things but wiring isn’t my forte.

I went to crank the ride for the first time and it cranks, but it just keeps cranking. Kickstand safety, kill switch, even turning off the ignition didn’t get it to stop cranking. Just kept going non stop until I disconnected the battery.

obviously the harness has been f’ed with. I’m going to start tearing down the harness tomorrow but has anyone run into this? I’ve never had a bike continue to crank even after the starter has been released and the kill switches/ignition turned off. Doesn’t make sense.

I had issue once where start-button was stuck on. But that would only crank when key was ON.

In your case, it might be starter-solenoid with stuck internal contacts between B & M terminals.

Easy enough to test. Measure resistance between B & M terminals with starter solenoid removed from bike

thanks for the input! Turns out it was a 30A fuse that was blown in an external fuse location off the positive battery lead.
swapped it out and seemed to fix our issue!

Now if anyone has a source for plug wires ….

Weird that blown fuse would cause solenoid to crank all the time...
There may be multiple issues with wiring...

While you can get used sets off fleaBay and other places, would be better to get new. You can certainly get part to make your own:

But for something like this, I think it's simplest just to do coil-on-plug conversion. Like this:

Note there's some errors in wiring diagram. Final version that works is this:

You can get set of coils + harness for decent price: https://www.ebay.com/itm/185614510065
