When replacing stator cover...

Need to replace the stator (alternator) cover on my '01 600 F4I. I ordered a new gasket with the cover and was wondering if I have to use some type of adhesive on the cover or gasket or is this unnecessary? Thanks in advance and have a happy Easter.
