Can you help a noob out?
Alright guys. I just got my hands on a 2003 600RR. I got it at a fairly cheap price because it doesn't run. It went from near daily usage (5,400 miles) to getting parked for a little shy of two years. (I found a beehive on it today) Then a week ago, the previous owner decided he wanted to take it home with him to Tennessee. In an attempt to get it running, he didn't drain the gas but filled the remainder of the tank with fresh fuel and replaced the battery. He then thought the problem could be with the coils so those were pulled.
SOOO, can you guys throw me some possible suggestions of the cause of the problem and solutions? I know in a car, the crankcase could sieze, making it useless. A common suggestion seems to be to clean the injectors out. I'm starting fresh in the bike world, so try not to flame.

My suggestion is to troubleshoot and start with what is easy first.
Is it turning over? Sound like it wants to start but just doesn't fire? If so check to see if it's getting gas.....Start at the tank....then go systematically through each part to see if fuel is passing through. A common problem after sitting is the points in the starter get corrodid(sp) and wont allow the bike to fire. The injectors could be clogged as well check again for fuel passage. If it's turning over just not firing fuel is the most common problem. Have you checked the plugs? Looked for spark? Ect.......
Start there and let me know......
