when mines was replaced they just took off the old one an then placed the new one with a single gasket. no sealant, no gasket on both sides. the cover never leaked.

No sealant or gasket adhesive is necessary. Unless you don't get the rubber grommet back in correctly, you could apply just a little silicone or yamabond around the grommet where your wiring comes out of the stator cover.

Make sure ya torque the bolts to spec. 8 foot pounds.

I believe the manual calls for a dab ofsealant in one place, possiblyaround the grommet and thats it. I believe just about any sealant will work, as long as it can withstand oil.

i had to do this recently and asked the same questions. the manual calls for sealant in two spots. one is the grommet side and the other is on the opposite side. search this site for F4I Manual, download it, look at the picture and you'll see what i'm talking about. i used high temp sealant from the local auto parts store. good luck and may the force be with you.

Gasket makes the seal. Just dab a small amount of oil resistant silicone where the gasket takes a sharp curve.
