Default Exhaust leak how to fix ?

88 1000F has a leak at the Y for both end pipes.
They areYoshi end pipes and themale end looks like they are
smaller diameter than the female openings on the stock header,
and the clamps will not squeeze enough to stop the leak.
They leak enough I can feel the exhaust blowing through the foot peg
opening on the inside of my legs.

Should the jointbe metal to metal or should there be header
tape wrapped on them to create a seal ?

If they should be metal to metal but don't seal, can anyone see a
problem with wrapping the end pipewith header tape to make a good seal ?
Thanks.

Default RE: Exhaust leak how to fix ?

for stock, there should be a gasket there...a cardboard type...
for aftermarket, no gasket, just metal to metal tight seal...but if the gap is not very big, use high temp RTV, like ultra copper or something...if the gap is huge..tape will work.
