Default Exhaust leak

I got cut off in a twisty the other day, and went to hit the horn, but screwed up and hit the starter. The bike reved pretty high, but it was only for like a second. After that, the bike started having trouble accelerating. I go about 3 blocks, then it backfires, and everything is back to normal. About halfway home though, I start smelling exhaust coming up from the engine compartment whenever I'm stopped at a light. It's been a few days, and hasn't gone away, though the intensity varies greatly. I inspected the manifold all the way down, and can't find any holes. Ideas?

Check and make sure your plugs and carb fittings are tight.

Pop the cap on your runoff coolant tank, located on the throttle side of the bike, just above the right rearset.Take a wiff.If you smell exhaust fumes, your head gasket may be done.

Coolant smelled oK. Came out from lunch today and the smell was gone, but now thw bike sounds like a V-twin; really loud sound from exhaust. Lost a bit of pull off the line, but seems to work OK other than that. Now I'm REALLY worried. :/

If in fact you do have an exhaust leak, you will lose some power.Easy fix.

I have a few pipes I'll be selling soon.If you want one, lemme know.

Problem fixed itself, somehow. I rode it for about a mile, stopped to get gas, and when I started up again, all was well. Still don't smell the exhaust, so that's good. Still, something is wrong and now the clues are gone. :/

Well, it's not stock, it's the Yosh race exhaust, so not cheap. Wouldn't it make more sense to repair it?
