Well, thanks all for your advice, very helpful. Well there is no loss of power at the mo so it cant be too bad! Think ill just leave it until it gets worse (then but a louder exhaust!)! only paid 1900 quid for the bike anyway so i guess getting a garage to sort the valves is not really worth it (bout 400??? any ideas??). Think ill keep it a few more months then got my eye on a bigger bike already, might defect from the hondas tho! gixer 1000 i rekon! I can hear the booooo's from here

Do not get me wrong ... the noise probably is only the tensioner ... but the valves ??? hmmm ?
If you only paid that much for it ??
..then getting a full workshop service ( including the valve clearances is wellllll worth it )

If you are unable to do the service yourself that is ???
They are tough machines .. but a look over the motor is not going to hurt ..
The only thing to remember with ANY shop service is .........
DO NOT GIVE THEM PERMISSION TO DO ANT EXTRA WORK WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT !!!

I had the same kind of problem earlier this week. My tick was because my coil was loose on my 1st cylinder/spark plug and I just pressed it back down and it fixed the problem. I don't know if that will completely fix it because that coil is very loose on the spark plug so I may have to buy a new one, but I would try checking that.
