Default Engine tick...

I have slight engine tick, seems to get a little worse once the engine warms up and at Hwy speeds. It's not overly loud, but its an issue I want addressed. I've read that 929's are notorious for these engine ticks, also read about exhaust leaks and valve issues. Anyone have any experience with this? Today when I get home I will take a look and see if I find anything... Cam chain tensioner maybe??

Sounds like it could be the CCT, the clutch baskets are very noisy. The valves rarely and i mean rarely need adjustment....

Some say its perfectly normal, others say the CCT. But I did find a CCT on Ebay for $20. How urgent is it I replace the CCT? Can it wait til winter when I plan on really getting into the bike, or is it something that should be taken care of now?

When it sounds like you have gravel or marbles in the clutch side ( the right side when your sitting on it ) of the engine, then it's time to worry about your cam chain tensioner, but I've had bikes develop a slight tick with less than 3000 miles on them, and nothing was wrong with the valves or anything else. How many miles are on your bike ?

there are 2 parts of the cam chain tensioner . The actual plunger ( the metal thing sticking out of your engine that has a push rod on it ) and the rubber chain guide like thing that the plunger keeps constant tension on. The chain guide part could have excessive wear on it, but the plunger can still be doing it's job and be fine.

My bike has 28K on it. Im not too worried about it now that I have some input from you guys and other research that I have done. I guess I'm just not used to an engine tick... I grew up knowing that that noise means trouble, especially in airplanes! I'm in my last year of school for A&P and we are currently in Aircraft recipricating engines and my instructor is talking about improperly lubed valvetrain, valves not seating right, valves dropping into the cylinder and the horror stories that follow... All I can think of is my bike about to blow up!! lol.

Thanks for your wisdom guys.
