I decided on the Leo Vince ultra high pipe system. It should be here in about a week, so I'll post up how much workspace I have with the oil filter.

Get a filter socket. They come is a variety of sizes, you can get one anywhere, walmart, meier, etc. If you have an extension for your ratchet you won't even need to take the fairings off.

hi kiggy/ and others. New to the site, and i'm sorry for resurrecting an old thread. I'm having trouble getting the filter off, and was trying to avoid removing the lower cowl/right side fairing. are you saying that there is a trick to remove the oilfilter with out farting with the plastic?? Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated.
note--every manual I've read says to take the plastic off.
thanks in advance.

yo mang...i don't take off mah plastics...i go through the front, where the V-fairing is.
but for the first change, the filter was put on by the terminator himself (not arnold but the real terminator) so it was way tight so i busted the bitach all up and got the filter off and then i said 'hasta la vista stock filter' and no problems.

does get a bit messy but if you put rags, etc. under the filter all good mang!

I tried a screwdriver plus every remover Wally World had at 1130pm! I finally got it with a standard oil filter wrench with a kitchen rubber glove over the filter for traction. The gloves are trashed but after two trips to wally world, I was ready for anything. Use a pop-stick to scrape off the burnt gasket. No metal to metal. They must put them on dry. Good luck
