Default need help with 600 F4i ignition & fuel pump...

what went wrong???? after i atempted to fix & trace the headlights since it doesnt go on when ignition turned on, i found out that it was a loose connection in one of the socket connectors. but after fixing it, my bike wont anymore start up. The fuel pump & the ignition wont fire up normally. The starter functions well but it cant start up the bike. Assuming that its not an ECM fault, what could have possibly cause the trouble?.. need some advice... thanks.

Check the other two connectors (if you are in the front, under the ignition) The fuel pump on the F4i's are powered when voltage is dropped to 9 volts on the pink wire coming out of the ignition switch. turn on the key and measure the voltage of the pink wire at the 4 pin connector behind the headlights. If it does not have any voltage you most likely have a blown diode in the base of the ignition housing.

you can also check your fuses look for the one that says tip sensor. because if thats blown the bike will crank fine but won't start. thats what happened to mine. (under your seat) are the fuses

My bike acts up sometimes and you wont hear the fuel pump start whining when you turn the key on. I always ride with my brights on and I figured out that if I turn my brights off before turning the key on that it works fine every time. Not really sure what the cause is but it works for now.

koko, my bet is with Fort collins, sounds like the tip sensor circuit. If that tip sensor is triggered, the fuel pump wont wind up. One other thing to check, is that if you may have to just reset the tip sensor. If you have had the headlight housing off and moving it around, you most likely tripped it. I forget the exact sequence, but it goes something like turn the key on, then toggle the red stop button on your handlebar a few times, then turn the key back off, make sure the button is in the "on" position, and try to start the bike again.

Cozgrove, sounds to me like your battery is going dead
